Warnock claims Spurs are better than Chelsea and will provide a sterner test. Unless my memory has failed me finally, Chelsea trashed us 5-1. Forget all the crap about matching them for 45 minutes, were were hockeyed and in the second half, totally outclassed. Frankly, for us older supporters, it was embarrassing, younger supporters are happy enough seemingly to look half decent for half a game because they've not been blessed to see some of our great teams. So what can we expect this time so if Spurs are better as Warnock says. Seems to me, he's preparing us for the worst and has no faith himself in the Leeds team he has assembled.
I expect the Leeds team to be up for this, and to run Spurs close (probably lose though) My reasons - if I was a clapped out ageing journeyman trying to extend his career I would do the following: 1. make sure I won my home league games, as that would at least divert the crowds annoyance onto others than me 2. would not bust a gut to win my away games, as promotion would be the last thing I'd want, given I couldn't even hold down a regular mfirst team place in the Prem when I was in my prime, never mind now 3. try to do well in the Cup as its a nice little extra earner and at my age I need to stash a bit away in the old piggy bank Not that we have any clapped out ageing journeyman, of course, but if I was one, thats what I'd be thinking. If we had a team of them, I'd expect us to win most home games, be crap away from home, be just outside the playoff places a but do quite well in cup competitions.
Silly comment really mate. Leicester, Crystal Palace, Everton, Southampton, etc etc are all better sides than Barnsley, yet we beat them and were completely outplayed by Barnsley. Just because you beat a stronger side doesn't mean you'll beat a weaker side, and vice versa - just because we lost 5-1 to chelsea doesn't mean we'll lose 10-1 to spurs. Every game is different. We'll almost certainly lose, yes, but just because Warnock's said this Spurs team is better than Chelsea (and the league suggests it is) doesn't mean he's preparing us for the worst or anything of that nature, he's just merely pointing out they are a very good side - better than a side we played earlier on this season. Really don't see the problem to be honest.
We'll see I suppose tomorrow. Hope for half a good game again or maybe Spurs might play 11 reserves like Southampton did
So we can expect that if you lose to spurs 5-1 Warnock will think that shows you have improved as Spurs are a better side
