There you go, that's exactly the problem, another 'potential' for 10million. while he may have all the potential and raw talent, he is yet to establish himself in the first team. Ben Arfa is a proven player in the EPL and a terrific talent, does not come with the 'potential' tag and obviously a much better option than what we have now. I think it's pretty stupid to go for someone who maybe a hit or miss, over an established player in the EPL
Ben Arfa isn't going to move ffs so why are we even discussing it? Coutinho does have potential and a lot of talent, I mean look at Chelsea and Oscar, would you say he showed a lot more potential than Coutinho? And Coutinho is half the price, Oscar cost Chelsea £20m at least!
He's more than 'just' potential currently. Has played a lot of games for a 20 year old. Has performed for Inter when fit, scored in big games (v Juventus for instance). Did very well on loan to Espanyol, including a good performance v Barca. If we sign him, or when, he'll be good enough to be involved straight away and is maybe 70% likely to push on and become a very useful player. That's not bad. I'm not disagreeing HBA would be a good signing, but he'd most likely be expensive and is equally a risk due to injuries and temperament. He's also not going to move in January when he's out of action. PS - we have a consistent, premier league proven, experienced PL attacker. He's called Stewart Downing. How's he doing? I'd bet right now that Coutinho could get more goal and assist contributions by the end of the season than Downing has at all for Liverpool.
BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS Liverpool have agreed an £8.5m deal for Inter Milan's Brazilian midfielder, Philipe Coutinho. The 20-year-old is expected to travel to Merseyside early next week for a medical and Liverpool will need to apply for a work permit before the deal can be completed. Taken from BBC website.
Wonder who might be the deadline day transfer ( If we are to believe one more will come in). Defender? Ince? CDM?
What are you dribbling on about? Since when was the signing of Coutinho a straight decision between signing him or Ben Arfa?
I'd love Eriksen in the summer... purely to see him do his trick...
Yes exactly, it's a shame Isco signed a new contract recently, cause we aren't going to pay £35m for him are we, ummm no!
I think Eriksen could be real, it is clear that he knows he will be moving on, it will just be who takes advantage. Another one from the dutch league is Tadic(sp) from Twente. Would like to hear Danilo thoughts on him.
So, more potential, more options, more choice in formations, can't be a bad thing.. Now what needs to happen is the fans give this lad a chance, he's unlikely to set the place on fire for the first 18months (if he does, then that'll be a bonus!) remember Lucas and Henderson? They need support not abuse!
Buzzin about Coutinho signing - could turn out to be an absolute bargain. He's well above his age in footballing ability, and most of all his awareness of the game is outstanding.
Ben Smith on BBC says Tom Ince remains on #LFC's radar.despite Coutinho's arrival If Ince arrives, who would that be the end of? Downing?
