does anyone know off the top of their head who's out of contract this summer, and the length of some of the others?

just read waggy is up this year. i'd like to see him given another 2 years. we've paid a lot of money for far worse players before.

    Dervite, Hughes and kerkar too.

It will be interesting come this summer as I think a few will be released, and then we'll see what money is out back in.

Also I think Hollands was a 3 year contract.

Can't see BWP staying beyond the summer, evidently not in SCP's plans.

Kerkar and Hughes will go, for others it all depends on how serious we are on a promotion push next season.

Don't really care if Karkar goes. From the players that left Rangers and joint Championship teams in the summer majority have been p*** poor! With the exception of Sone Aluko, I don't think any others have made an impact. Just proof how poor the SPL actually is.

I don't think Hughes will stay as he still `lives` in harrogate.

The Doctor talks about what a good character he is to have around the place, much the same way as Curbs used to talk about Chris Powell, the left back.

Then he would be happy living in Tunbridge Wells.

Why didn't we swap for N'gussan then? SLP reported that, that was the offer.

I think the following will go Bover,Hughes,BWP,Mambo,Smith. If we get an offer for Green and Hollands they will also go.Maybe a couple of the U21s Harry Osbourne,or Cousins who hasn't pushed his way into the first team as I thought he would. Our squad is too big and a lot of the players look a long way from the first team.We need to free up some of the wages,if the owners are serious about getting us into the Premiership.

Think squad surgery depends on a number of things but mainly:

    1. What league we are in. In the unlikely but not completely impossible scenario that we get relegated all bets are off.

    2. Whether we have/find any money.

    3. What our level of ambition is notwithstanding 2 above.

The current squad is clearly too big and there are those who have proved (whether they have had a fair crack of the whip or not is a separate debate)that they are not up to top half champ level (Hollands, Green etc). There are also those who have been acquired under our impecunious circumstances this year who can also be thanked for their efforts and shown the door (Cook, Kerkar). We also need to take a hard look at our promising youngsters who are getting older and bulking out the squad. Not my area if expertise at all and I defer to those who watch the youngsters regularly (that sounds a bit wrong. Sorry) but to me only Harriott, Cousins and Azeez look even close to making it. Then we have the "mystery men" category. We always seem to have a Gibbs or an Alonso who assume mythical status, cost a wage but are never seen. Bover is the latest.

So there are loads who can go but it will depend on whether we are in league 1 again and whether we can actually find a home for some of these who presumably will not be out of contract. Will be an interesting summer again.

What worries me slightly is going down to a leaner squad of higher quality players when a number of our key players are very injury prone

We've had a lot of good kids recently and so a lot of them have been given contracts. Trouble is we don't know what to do with them when they're 18/20ish. For years we've been very cautious about trusting our youngsters compared to Palace, and this season we had the opportunity to give 3 of them, Fox, Harriott and Jordan, a decent taste of first team action but went with Seaborne, Frimpong and Kerkar. Cousins is another possibility. But as I've been droning on for years, when you have a large squad of experienced players there is no way through. Let's see what they do with Poyet who IMO is now good enough for the under-21's.
