Only ever owned one car in my life, an x reg mini metro that cost me £100. I thrashed the arse off it, and knackered a cyclinder. unfortunately joy riders took it but they didn't get far. i put in back on the car park, and a couple of nights later they came back and torched it.

Dude, that's a ****ing tragic story.

I was ready for a happy ending, and then you hit me with a cold solid punch of death.

Pray for your X-Reg Mini Metro.

Can't really remember but I think it was the 2 litre, it was in Old English White and I remember the gear stick broke off at the root but was still perfectly usable, it was funny to watch peoples faces that didn't know, I'd get into 4th gear then pull the gear stick out whilst shouting out in a panicked voice FOR ****S SAKE.........HELP!

I have had some pretty smart cars over the years but my best car was a series 2 Ford Escort, i was in my late teens and had some brilliant times with my mates in that car. It was a 1.6 automatic and totally sh*t to drive but ohhhhhh those memories will live with me for ever! :afro:

Got to be SAABs again. My favourite was a 9 5 estate, but my wife's 15 year old 9000 is pretty ace too.

Sunday car is a Triumph Stag. It roars like the East stand

I'm impressed to see the Herald getting a mention on here, particularly the Vitesse, it's a class car, I spent years doing one up with a mate, but it got torched when he moved to London.

OLM - What was the 190 evo like to drive? Always loved the look of them. I recently owned a Nissan Silvia ps13, gutted when i had to sell it.

Of all the cars I ever owned, it's probably the car I most enjoyed driving, it was practical, it was fun, it was a bloody brilliant car. I have had cars that cost three or four times as much, but if I was only allowed to keep one car I'd ever owned, that would be the one(the 6 series and the car I have now wouldn't be far behind).

What is it with Saabs and Triumph - I know they used to be stable mates in the 70s and 80's.

Real pity about the demise of saab. May still yet buy a 9-3 aero cabrio. The Dolly Sprint was awesome in his day - had three of them.

For the record I've had 2 BMW's and I wouldn't touch another bastard.

The bodywork of my 3 series started corroding when it was three years old.

Don't get me started on my 5 series, I should have learned my lesson after the 3 series but no.
I literally spent an average of over £100 a month on garage bills over a three year period including a new clutch and dual mass fly wheel at over £1200.

In the same period the wife's Audi A3 had absolutely nothing go wrong. Sweet FA.

    Over rated pieces of ****.

    IMO.

I used to live a couple of doors down from his ex on Park Ave.
She once gave me one of, if not the, worst haircuts I've ever had.
It was basically a flat top.

Are you mates with Mr Pepper OLM?

I've never shown a chop, I'm old school, I like my Lambretta's to look exactly as they did when they came out of the factory. The LD is the only one that's completely authentic, one SX is fairly authentic(but was resprayed in the late 80's - it's also got one sidecan signed by Weller), another SX is really clean(plain black) and the Li125 special is white with red trimmed cans and a St George on the leg shields(which I wish I hadn't done).

I used to be, but I've not seen him for years now, we met when he kicked me in outside the Welly in 1978.

We became friends afterwards, due to the respect I earned by trying to hit him back.

I'm still in touch with Dece Gambi, who used to be his best mate back in the day, his sister was the notorious Able Mable. A load of us moved to London together, Dece ran a club night called Pig on the Old Kent Road and did illegal rave's in West London, after which we'd go back to his squat in Camden.

    Those were the days...

Definitely a rum lad is Mr Pepper.

He's still got his garage on Queens Rd as far as I know.

My old man dreamed of.owning an Aston ever since he saw the DB5 James bond had. All his life he put his family first so never bought one. I eventually persuaded him to put himself first for once and he took.the plunge. After he took delivery his cancer quickly spread.and.he died within 6 months and before he ever got to drive it properly.

My advice for.what its worth, if you have the.means don't wait cos if you do it could be too.late

In 1965 I bought a 1957 MGA 1500 for £70. Granted it was stripped down for a rebuild but once rebuilt and (hand) repainted it kept me in sportscars and birds until the late 1970's when I was married. As a married man the MGA became the family transport until the bread snappers started to appear and the MGA became the second car then he "retired" car. Come 1989 and the MGA was rebuilt, every nut, bolt and moving part was lovingly restored and the bodywork was totally rebuilt whilst maintaining the true heritage and mostly original parts. Today the car is valued somewhere between £20K and £25K. A true and faithful old friend.
