The best vehicle I've owned was a Series 1 Isuzu Trooper 2.8D 5-door. I was, admittedly, doing a job in agricultural irrigation at the time, which led to my buying it. What are posters' favourite/s? (2-wheels included....OLM?)
Probably a 1990 H Reg Saab 900 turbo (one of six Saabs I've owned) and a Triumph Dolomite Sprint. Current car Jag X Type 2.5 is good though.
X reg White Mini Metro - £595 from Moores on Anlaby Road. I ****ing miss that car. Just loved the way it felt like you were sat inside a carboard box with an engine. I swear it was colder inside that car than outside during the winter. Still once I got a few speakers "installed" it was well pimped.
Mercedes c200 sport fantastic machine One of the last proper shape Mini Coopers, great fun in the summer
My current car is the best I've owned. Renaultsport Clio 182 with the cup suspension pack. My first car was great for sentimental value - Chrysler Sunbeam 900 cc. Best cars I've driven? DB9, modified Evo and an uprated-to-500bhp Porsche 997 Turbo
Oh dear, I have a few, my very first car was was Triumph Vitesse convertible and she was beautiful, in the early nineties I got a Montego 2 litre Turbo which was wickedly quickly, so much so that you got massive torque steer if you pulled away from the lights too quickly, which, at the age I was, I used to do all too often. That was followed by a fully kitted Merc 190e Cosworth which got chopped in after 3 months, as it drove, by comparison, like a slug, for a BMW 325i Convertible which was beautiful. Like one of the above posters I've had a few Saab's, including a 9000 Carlsson, 9-5's & 9-3's, lovely cars, in recent years I've had a very nice Merc CLK320 convertible and my wife had an SLK 230. Now, in my mid fifties, I'm not so fussed about cars but I currently have a MK4 Golf GT TDI that I will probably take to the grave with me, I just cannot bear to part with it and would say, even taking into account all of the above, that it comes very close, overall, to being the best car I have ever owned. My wife drives a Seat Altea 170FR which is as fast as fcuk and is just as frugal, the handling is also superb. Edit - How could I forget, an RX7, the quickest thing I have ever owned or driven but also the most expensive, every time I drove it something seemed to fall off the bastard, never again will I own anything that has a ****el rorary engine!
Ghia X 2.5ltr 6 cyclinder Ford Mondeo, I know its not regarded as car porn but I had some great times in that car. Me best bike I had was my first vehicle at 16 a purple Yammy Fizzy
Citroen ax gti. Mental car. Loved it. Now got a6 quattro sport and it is easily the best car I've had.
Audi TT, Alfa 156, Silver Capri, Saab 900, Merc C200 Sport, Citroen 2000 in 1980, great car and really big and quiet. And my original Ford Anglia ( little square model) cost me £40 quid and traded it in for £80 to buy sloping window Anglia, loved that one. My favourite was a bench seat, column change Cortina 1965, quality. Only it was the colour of custard.
My best bike was a Panther (Villiers 2-stroke) 325cc twin. Left any big bike standing from the lights (even if I got caught up, further down the road).
My first car was a Citroen AX 'Chicago' edition. Bought it off my sister in mint condition and within three years had to scrap it due to never having it serviced and generally driving it like a ****. Then went into a Fiat Punto, which was pure dog **** on wheels. Best car is probably the one I've got now, a Mercedes C class sport. Well when I say 'I've got' her indoors drives it more than me.
A jah speed race tuned lambretta, 350 Suzuki piston , 46mm mikuni carb. Fuel pump , light flywheel , the works . 18 mg .. Fully synthetic race oil , cost £20 in oil alone to get from Scarborough to Gateshead n back .. Had to carry tool kit all the time though . I love the beautiful T5 I have now , 23 years old and looks better then new .
Lammy man has some fab lambrettas I hear ... Just right for chopping .. Only ever drove a car once and that was an automatic, up and down a car park..
2 favourites; 3years ago I bought a 52 reg Saab 93 2.2 tid, smoothest drive I've ever had, made Hudds to London feel like popping to the shops. when I met the missus, she had an 07 Honda civic typeS the diesel version of the typeR. like sh1t off a shovel, acceleration was superb.
I've got a 56 Saab 9-3 1.9TiD now and it runs like a dog, think it must be a dud. Doesnt owe me anything so just going to run it to the ground.
Worked with cars, wagons, tanks the lot and I'd have a Challenger MBT tomorrow, but hate the rest! Got a VW Passat Est. and it's apiece of ****; less than 2yrs old and had full injectors, a full console (electrics), flywheel + clutch, and others, not to mention SEVEN AA roadside recoveries. If I could, I would walk every where, just me & the dog on one long pub crawl!
