Yes, it has certainly changed. The original plan included an expectation that we would survive only one season in the PL. I don't think anybody at the club expects to go down now. But there won't be any spending money we haven't got in a gamble to further decrease the possibility that we will. Like last season, we will spend just what we can currently afford, if the right players can be got.
Peter Coates has also invested £40-50 million in the club, a little bit more than our owners, so it's not just a case of relying on the PL money.
West Brom have just rejected a transfer request from Odemwingie. I'm told QPR bid about £3m for him recently, surely he doesn't want to go there?
Well I suppose if you consider it as a case of zero chance of winning anything with either, but a wheelbarrow full of extra cash at one, then it makes sense. I'd rather be at West Brom pushing for the chance of European football, but maybe that's just me.
Well that's the end of any hope of signing Hooper; http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...ham-pole-position-land-celtic-striker-190161?
Oh well, fingers crossed for RVW then! On a related note, Newcastle confirm Sissoko on a 6 and a half year deal. Another frenchman, and surely they've got no money left now? 6 and a half years is one hell of a long contract.
No, but I never said we were interested. With the vast majority of players we've been linked with, we're either a step up (MLS/Champ to PL) or a stepping stone for someone looking for a career at the top of the PL. Really the only one who doesn't follow that would be Danny Graham, who would be coming for more first team football. I think we're in the market for a different type of player to those you are/were (I say were because you seem to be moving away from the Hughes philosophy)
Ill tell you what though if the lad signed for the mighty QPR I'd have to have 'wolfwinkel' on the back of my spare Guinness top Cracking name even if he's completely useless - which I'm sure he's not I have read that fee is circa €10m but wages are £60k/wk Would you break your wage structure for a player like that? Tricky decision
I think wages could definitely be the stumbling block. The fee isn't so different to what we were offering for Hooper.
Similar to us signing Remy then really Maybe it's time for Norwich to go just a bit crazy and sign a big marksman?
60k per week where did u read that WBA qpr? Suprised they are that high in the portugese league (he's prob a big earner though)
Can't remember max he's been rumoured on ours and new castles board for a good week or so. I think it was reported he wanted that amount Depends who's looking at him doesn't it? It's like hooper. If AVB was looking at taking him on they would offer more than Norwich. At some point you've got to take the plunge, although maybe not yet?
