Would love to speak fluent French to translate this, but it seems to be an Official Toulouse interview saying goodbye wishing the player luck at Newcastle:

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xx...soko-transfere-a-newcastle_sport#.UQGq8uicmHl

I've got to say, if Toulouse are the fiends they are being made out to be over Sissoko then this doesn't quite tally. I can't imagine many clubs showing that kind of class about a departing player and one they wanted to keep.

Possibly our £2m handshake paid for it mind, but still. I've heard Sissoko waived his signing on fee to push the move through, which is refreshing as it surely makes sense. He'll be improving his monthly wage I'm sure!

A real credit to the board for pushing this one through now...

He said Newcastle are a very good club, and he says his motivation is to play for a big club and help them achieve the maximum... That's what my high-school french mixed with a terrible memory has left me with.

In fairness, I know we all love the fact we are signing some exciting players but what exactly does this leave is when the home grown rule comes into play

Lies. All anyone cared about four days ago was how many players we'd sign.

    Haven't you heard? We're joining Ligue 1.

Seriously, though - Elliott, Harper, Simpson, Ameobi, Perch, Steven & Ryan Taylor will all be in the 25 man squad. And look - I didn't even have to write "Wi***amson".

We have plenty of players who class as home grown, so all is good.

Home grown rule is that no more than 17 over-21 foreign players are allowed per squad. That means you need at least 6 home grown.

Aye but will we just have players who qualify as homegrown and have them in the squad for the sake of that and a huge gulf in class between them and the first team. Not sure Im happy with that, I'd like the homegrown players to be forcing the issue and putting the required shift in when asked

On that note, the home grown rule is another major reason we need to keep Krul

If we're doing Arsenal-lite, home-grown won't be an issue just yet. Each window will see new recruitments + development players til we have a sufficient Academy to not need many recruitments.

If we're not doing Arsenal-lite... Just what the heck???

MOUSSA Sissoko is confident his style of play will make him a hit at Newcastle United.

The French midfielder is set to complete his move to Tyneside in the next 24 hours as Newcastle’s raid on France shows no signs of slowing down.

Having tied up the signing of a fourth Ligue 1 player in two weeks in youngster Massadio Haidara yesterday, Sissoko looks set to become No5.

And the Gallic incomings may not end there, with Newcastle having slapped in a bid for teenage talent Florian Thauvin.

The deal for Sissoko is all but done, with the midfielder confirming last night that he is joining the Magpies.

He said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Toulouse, but now I go to another club, another championship, and I hope it works out.

“I think the English championship is the championship which suits my style of play the best.

“Newcastle are a very good club, despite the fact that they are fairly low down in the standings at the moment.

“They have quality players, and had a brilliant season last year. That is what motivated me to go to this club.

“I will get game time at Newcastle, and it is important for me as a player to play as much football as possible.

“I think Newcastle is the ideal club.”

Sissoko is due on Tyneside today after United agreed a fee of around £2.5m for the 23-year-old star.

Sissoko, who has six French caps, was out of contract at the end of the season, and Newcastle had originally planned to get him to sign a pre-contract this month which would see him complete a free transfer switch in the summer.

But both the player and the Magpies pushed for the deal to be completed during this transfer window, and Toulouse eventually relented after something of a stand-off.

A statement by the French club said: “Moussa Sissoko will not go to the end of his contract,

“He found an agreement with Newcastle United for a definitive transfer which takes effect today.”

The move for Thauvin is less clear-cut, despite Bastia revealing they had received an offer from Newcastle yesterday.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has attracted the attention of Arsenal and French club Lille, and Bastia are determined to get the best price for their pize asset.

Newcastle have made a £2.5m offer which includes a 15 per cent sell on clause and would see Thauvin loaned back to Bastia for the rest of the season.

The French club are considering the offer, and hope that Arsenal will come in with a higher bid, but Newcastle won’t get involved in an auction for the France Under-20 international.

Sweet. I think our midfield is starting to look a bit special. If we go 433, we have Tiote, Anita, Cabaye, Sissoko (if it comes off), Perch, Marveaux. That is pretty strong! It also has a nice balance in terms of options. Sheer brute force with Tiote. Brute force with height and all round game in Sissoko. Dynamo in Anita with a touch of class. Class and guile of Cabaye. Solid back up from Perchie. Marveaux covering Yohan and able to sprinkle a bit of magic here and there.
