I've seen the video. It's Lucy Pinder dressed only in a Saints top rolling around on a bed throwing gobs of cash. Simple, but effective.
Comments are funny on that article. Liverpool fans are going to lose it if we nick Courtinho off them
I wouldn't want him at any price, especially if he doesn't want to come to Southampton. Last thing we want is someone who is only really tempted by the money we offer. Not saying that is the case but just saying that i dont think he's the only good player we could go for with a £10m+ offer.
Doesn't seem that he's adverse to Southampton, so much as he's adverse to leaving Inter; he has said similar things about Liverpool. That's understandable, because -- for an ambitious player -- either move will seem like a step back, when he believes that he's good enough to nail down a spot with one of the biggest clubs in the world. Don't see that as a strike against him.
I like it when players we target say they are happy where they are and want to fight for their place and improve themselves, team, etc. Those are the kind of players I want. Not guys who are like "Yeah, I'm not really getting the time I feel like I deserve so screw Inter." If they say they are unhappy at their club, then maybe they won't be happy at Saints either. And if they are happy at their club and still move to Saints, I assume it's because they think they will be even more happy here; they aren't just grabbing a lifeline and want to leave in a year. It's the professional thing to say, and I want professional players. We would all be pretty upset if an offer came in for one of our decent players and the player said he was looking forward to moving teams. Saying you are happy avoids possible unrest with the team, fans, or managers, and it helps the team to get the maximum value in a transfer.
That would make sense. Thanks Schad. The impression I got from some press was that he didn't want to come here, as in didnt like the idea of coming here, but I can appreciate why he would say he wants to stay at IM. I still think we should keep one eye open for alternatives though, just in case this one doesn't happen.
Agreed, well said. Also... BBC Merseyside Sport ‏@bbcmerseysport Inter Milan have accepted Southampton's £10.2 million bid for Liverpool target Phillipe Coutinho. Will Liverpool match that bid ? BBC Solent Sport ‏@solentsport Our colleagues in Liverpool have tweeted that a #saintsfc bid for Coutinho has been accepted BUT source is unclear & club not commenting I think they are both just regurgitating info but it's still relatively reliable if BBC sources are relaying it. Just about the most reliable source we've had yet.
Lots of scousers on Twitter who seem to think that Coutinho has said he doesn't want to come here and they have had a bid excepted with him due for a medical tomorrow. Has anyone seen anything from a proper respected source to confirm any of this? The only slightly credible things I've seen are the BBC quotes above. Guillem Balague said a day or so ago we were going to bid and that Tancredi Palmeri bloke who had a lot to say about Ramirez said we were going to bid at around the same time. Lots of sites and papers saying we have had a bid excepted but I can't see anyone saying that Liverpool have. All that I can see from Coutinho himself is that he said he wants to stay but that was before we had our supposed bid excepted.
Twitter tonight is hilarious, LFC has so many muppets with fake journo accounts that retweet everything that is said. It just turns into a massive game of Chinese whispers, in the end one person says something and 5000 others start shouting it. They are currently in a state of apoplectic rage as someone tweeted that it had fallen through and we had got him. What a total farce it all is.
Liverpool supporters are comfortably the most annyoing, all the 12 years olds with JFT96 in their name........do me a favour.
Oh I really hope we sign Coutinho. It would really piss off the Liverpool fans! What would be funny if we did sign him is that when we play them, Ramirez takes a corner (linked but no actual bid), Forren flicks it on (on his way for trial but no bid made so went to Saints) and Coutinho scores (outbid by a "small" club).
