Am I the only one who gets reminded of this when I smell Titus Bramble and Shay Given in the same sentence?

    No.

Why force a move to a club where you would take a huge pay cut ?

Why, apparently, contemplate retirement from a multi million pound profession when San Lorenzo has given up on you ?

Colo is very unhappy about something. He is doing his job and keeping his mouth shut publicly while the club and he talk about it in private.

He's keeping his mouth shut... His is the operative word there. He surely can ring up daddy dearest and tell him to shut his cake-hole too?

I have no idea what the father and son relationship is like. My father certainly didn't listen to me when I told him to shut up about what I was doing for a living.

In any event, Colo senior has moved on now. Colo junior still hasn't said a word. He's still showing up for training an playing well in games.

He wants to go home but at the moment is doing his job. Until that changes, give him a break

I have no idea what you've said that for... Because I am on his back?

Anyway... if an agent talks about you, how is that different from you dad stirring **** up? Most players don't do much talking unless they have a twitter account these days. And even then I'm thankful they're limited to 140 characters <ok>

Agree, can't help but think that external pressure is being applied to force an issue. I don't quite go for the unhappy wife story as why has this suddenly become an issue?

Sorry, not you particularly. There's been a bit of anti-Colo sentiment that I think is unnecessary at this point.

    What we know is:

    a. He doesn't seem to be angling for more money/biggeer club etc
    b. He seems to be unhappy about something
    c. He's doing his job.

While it's frustrating not knowing what the whole thing is about, I think people should give him the benefit

Agreed, he's playing well on the pitch which is all I want from him personally, and to be honest the fans have been very supportive of him at games. Don't really mind people hypothetically questioning the situation on here though, because we're all trying to figure out what the heck is going on. It might actually be better if Colo or the club were more open about the whole thing, but to know whether that's true would rely on knowing what exactly is wrong. Vicious cycle.

If he wants to leave so badly, I think it's going to be hard to keep up a consistently high level of performance, though. In the back of my mind is the Carlos Tevez saga, where he wanted to go home supposedly, yet ended up signing for Man City... And then pissing off home for ages... Then coming back... I don't foresee any scenario whereby this situation lingering can benefit the club, so for me they need to set a deadline and perhaps be more lenient with the outcome, even if financially they lose out.

Apologies if this has been discussed previously (it probs has but I dont fancy wading through 16 pages!) but does anyone know what Colo's problem actually is? Something to do with his missus??

I heard a rumour on twitter he has had 'extra marital affairs' with a lass from Cramlington, but think thats bull.

the official line from Colo's camp is that his wife is ill.
If she were ill though you would think she would take their kids with her back to where the rest of the family are... or even take treatment in the UK (hich most probably will have better standards'.
There are contradictory claim of course but my view is that he has indeed been a bit of a naughty boy and she has probably said 'come home with me or it's over'.
The fact that he seems so pressured to leave right now kinda backs up my view.

Taken today at training apparently, to quash the daft rumours he's done a runner.

The fact that she left the kids with Colo would be very odd if she had stormed off over an affair.

The trouble with this situation is that it is very easy to point out why everyone else's explanation doesn't make sense, but very hard to come up with a sensible explanation of your own. Every theory seems wonkier than the last

I think there might be a book about that one day!

Only a few little clues to go on, but reading between the lines I suspect they have had a "complicated" relationship which improved in the last few years (as evidenced by the addition of Osvaldo's face to Colo's chest tattoo).

Could it not have been her that was having the affair, hence she's gone.

I did consider this (in my never-ending pursuit of "solve the Colo mystery") and did note that she's really "WAGSed" herself up over the last year. Been working out (lost weight and looks very toned), hair extensions, more make-up etc.

However, she blew that theory by recently (December) adding lovey-dovey captions to some Facebook pictures of herself and Colo.

    What does that mean?

And Colo's response to this is "I must give up my career to pursue that woman" ?

possible i suppose, but like every other theory, wonky as hell

Wonder what his children are making of all this, hopefully they are being sheltered from all the speculation. If the story is correct that they are still in the UK, they must be missing their mum.
It's all a bit strange really, and l do hope more than anything that it can be resolved and Colo will stay, bit selfish l know, but with the current batch of good signings to bring fresh energy into the team, it really would seem like a step backwards if we were to lose our Captain.
Personally, l don't think he will be allowed to go until the end of the season, fingers crossed it all sorts itself out by then.

At the end of the day, whatever happens between Colo and Mrs Colo has nothing to do with us. The press don't mind what they bring up in order to sell papers and give no consideration to the hurt it might cause to the people concerned.

I hope things will be sorted out to the advantage of the Coloccini family and the press will keep off their backs.

It's Colo's on the field performances that we should be interested in.
