Fairly sure I read that Sissoko interview that Sky are using yesterday. Apparently our bid was accepted this morning so SkySports would be out of date.

    From RMCSport:

According to our information, Moussa Sissoko (23) Is well and truly leaving Toulouse for Newcastle this winter.

Olivier Sadran, president of Toulouse, reached an agreement with his English counterparts for the transfer of the French international who is out of contract with TFC at the end of the season.

The amount of the transaction is believed to be 2.5m Euros.

Sissoko, who is thought to have made significant concessions on his signing bonus, will sign for the Magpies on Friday for five and a half years.

Assuming we did pull it off, which player would be the bigger coup, Sissoko or Mbiwa?

    Mbiwa for me.
Great young player in a position we desperately needed reinforcements. We could have dealt without Sissoko until the summer with Tiote, Anita & at a push Bigi filling in.
Very happy to be getting him though (assuming we do)

Mbiwa is an incredible coup. I fancy him vs Villa on his own.

Mbiwa for me is a steal at the price. Was listening to a french football expert saying we have got a beast of a player who is likely to become the French captain for the next 10 years. In his opinion an English player of his capabilities would cost in excess of £20 million.

No contest it would be Moussa.

Mbiwa is 6ft whereas Moussa is supposedly 6ft 2.

    <sorry>

In all seriousness Mbiwa is a much more critical signing for us.

It's all well and good everyone waxing lyrical over Mbiwa and I'm sure he's a good player, however let's not forget he's got to prove himself better than Wiliamson before he gets in the first team. If I was the coaching staff I'd get him to sit down with Williamson and get a deep knowledge on how to defend in the Premier League, then and only then would I be confident that he could ease his way into the centre back position.

    http://www.nufcblog.com/2013/01/24/french-reports-that-sissoko-a-done-deal-at-e2-5m/?

le10Sports is reporting that Newcastle have signed Moussa Sissoko to a permanent deal at Newcastle for €2.5M, which is about £2M.

Moussa Sissoko – a done deal?

Here’s the translation of the le10 report:

As we revealed earlier this week, Moussa Sissoko has reached an agreement with the English club Newcastle. And according to our information, the player will join the Magpies this winter.

The two clubs have reached an agreement to €2.5 million for the transfer of the player.” Dismissed by the professional group president Olivier Sadran, Moussa Sissoko had to make some serious efforts in order to resolve the situation this winter.”

He will leave Toulouse now and not next June when his contract with TFC should end, the player has in effect agreed to forgo his signing bonus.” Moussa Sissoko will commit to a five and a half years.”

This is breaking news – but great news for Newcastle United – and we would think this report is very close to the truth.

If that guy has taken a knock on his signing on fee just to allow your club to pay Toulouse for him to move early then ****ing fair play to him, what a top bloke.

He could have sat in France waiting til Summer when his big pay day arrives but he wants to come and fight to help you guys stay in the division.

This must go some way to restoring your faith in footballers after Remy.

Ay, he could have collected wages til the summer, seen how we were sitting then, and then sold himself as a free agent for the best signing on fee.

Will beleive it when I see it, but then that's already happened twice this week
