Hmm, Mercedes trying to get an angle on Kubica too if he's ever up to an F1 return?

That's brilliant Silver, someone should definitely tweet it to Webber.

Mercedes will always want a nice selection of drivers to show Lewis and Nico that they can be replaced if they **** around.

Seb/Kubica/Hulk/Bottas and Kimi are probably all on Mercedes radar. To be honest 2014 would work for Kubica since it would be a new Formula and every driver has to relearn their styles slightly so he wont be years behind of sorts.

If Mercedes prove faster than RBR, Seb will jump ship for 2015, or Hulk if they're not. But it's very certain that Mercedes will want to keep one seat for the best German driver they can get.

So they kiss and made up after about 20 years... although I thought that comment about Senna was very distasteful

Just saw this photo of the STR8 under wraps on Facebook, and I can't help but notice how much more the nose seems to slope down than cars we've seen in the last 2 years. Looks very 2009/2010-ish. Which is good because I loved the look of those cars.

I think those are just stretch marks on the sheets. If it is a step nose it certainly doesn't look like the one they had last year.

I believe it is a stepped nose 'under wraps'. And no, I don't mean the red drape! I mean that the step is covered with what will become known as a 'vanity panel': essentially a make-up job.

When I first heard the 'vanity panel' term, what I envisaged in my head was not pretty <laugh>
I have to admit I'm still confused as to how it's going to pan out. They want the aerodynamic and saftey benefits that the stepped nose provides, but also the aesthetic appeal of the non-stepped nose, and so I'm really intrigued as to find out where the compromise lies and what the finished product with these panels looks like, because I can't picture it anymore.

I'm familiar with the technical schematic of it, but even then I'm still confused as to how each team will go about amending it, especially if they're evolving their cars from last year, each with all their own differently proportioned step nose. I s'pose we'll get our answers on Monday with Lotus.

I am also interested to see how the 'Vanity panel' works. I cant see how teams would compromise performance or if the slope cover is better then why the step was done in the first place.

If anyone could explain, that would be great <ok>
