Yeah the ball-boy's a massive penis, but being fair he might have purely been joking. Apparently son of a director and 17 years old. His actions wouldn't have held the game up for as long as they did if Hazard hadn't got involved though!

Hate to think what kind of messages he's been getting from irate Chelsea fans!

Have to say I watched this whole game and whereas I accept its all part of the game and home advantage, there was some scullduggery going on with the ball boys. Either their ball boys are absolute knob ends, or they had been told to slow the game down. Swansea have to accept some responsibility here. At one point the ball boy deliberately threw it short of the Chelsea player trying to retrieve the ball, and then we had this farcical situation where you get a ball boy lying on top of the ball to stop Hazard getting it back.

That said Hazard has gone about it the wrong way and under the rules I suppose its a sending off. No more than three games though because he barely touched the kid who's play acting came straight out the Luis Suarez handbook. At worst he may have made slight contact but I suspect simply kicked the ball.

Much ado about nothing, yet we have the press going on like its a Cantona kung fu kick!

EDIT Apparantly after the game they got him in the Chelsea dressing room where they asked if he was ok and he was met by Lampard and Terry. Surprised Terry didn't accuse him of sheep shagging.

Put it this way, if a player had been lying on the ball, justifiably or not, and been kicked like that it would have been a red card all day long. The player lying on the ball might have got a yellow, but the person who kicked him would have got a straight red

It must be at least as serious doing it to a ballboy

If so, the correct riposte would be "But it's then you English who will eat the sheep."

After watching the replay a few times looking for violent conduct all I can see is Hazard toe poking the ball under the Ball boy's body and maybe grazing his ribs with the same force as a slinky going down a flight of stairs. There was no malice, no violence. Compare it to Nolan wrestling Szczesny in the 4-4 to get the ball back and it doesn't even warrant a yellow imho.

As I said above, if it had been a player on the ball for whatever reason and hazard had done the kicking, it would be a situation where either you get the ball cleanly or it's a red. A player on the ground can't be kicked, stamped, etc just because he shouldn't be there. I can't see that the fact that it's a ball boy rather than a player changes that.

No malice but a clear red.

Ah yes, but he didn't kick the lad (from what I've seen in the replay and yes I've only seen one angle so could be completely wrong and if I am then agree with you completely). To me it equates to a player holding onto the ball after he's been called up for a foul. if you knock the ball out of his hands so you take to free kick and hit his chest with your hand as you get the ball back then there's no penalty, you're just getting the ball back so you can play on.
