Saw this from the Daily Express via Skysports webpage "Paper Talk".
Doubt we could compete with Napoli if it us true.

Edit; too many N's in the header:)

If he does go there it would be a total sideways step as Morgan de Sanctis is, to excuse my French, ****ing brilliant. He's one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now and Mannone would be undisputed number 2. He really needs to go somewhere he is going to play regularly at this stage of his career. As a result I'd suggest Milan are a much more likely prospect. Both keepers of their's are old and not very good, it's probably their weakest position, while they have a new policy from this season of signing younger players on Bosman's where possible cos they're skint. Plus Vito is a MIlan fan.

I fully believe this is a space-filler by a journo who knows nothing about Italian football and has no contacts and instead just plucked a club out of the air for Vito to join. If he does back to Italy Id wager he'll end up at Milan and lets see who knows best - me or the Express.

We had our chance at 1mil, it would have been a steel considering the cockups we have seen in goal so far this season.

We never had a chance at 1 million, his wages are way way out of our league.

I didn't recognise that term so I googled it and got:
Omerta; A code of silence practiced by the Mafia; a refusal to give evidence to the police about criminal activities.
So is there something about you we should know Chazz?? :emoticon-0112-wonde
Anyway the reason I asked is that Mannone was on loan to us for a while, so I imagine we had a fair idea of his wages before we tried to sign him. The only sticking point mentioned at the time seemed to be Wenger's £1million valuation, so I assumed his wages were within budget.

To be fair we could prob afford his wages if his fee was low whereas if the fee's £1m that means we can only afford to pay lower wages. Clubs bundle both together when budgeting for a player hence someone on a Bosman gets invariabley higher wages.

I suppose the fact that the deal didn't go ahead when all parties seemed ready to go suggests there was an unidentified problem and as we knew the fee you could assume it was wages unless Wenger wanted to insert unacceptable clauses into the transfer.

Barmby didn't fancy buying him. He then got the sack and beryl decided Ben Amos was better.

IMO, Vito Mannone will stay @ Arsenal until the summer and then assess his options. IF Hull City are back in the PL and Stockdale does not come here then it would be a good for the Tigers to make a move for Vito on a permanant deal. With Bo Myhill a FAT in the summer that would be 2 good quality PL standard GK sorted.

Barmby brought him in on loan, that was the best he could do, he wasn't allowed to buy anyone.

A football manager who doesn't want to buy any players, now that sounds likely...

It will probably have been Pearson that felt the Mannone deal was not in the clubs best financial interests

Vito is from Bergamo way, but is of 'terrone' stock so may well have welcomed a move to Napoli....after all the Bay of Naples would remind him of the East Yorkshire Riviera he so liked.

Guzzler Guzan was another very good keeper we let slip.
