Not true. Our rule is they must have a compatriot (Ba/Cisse, for example). We have Krul. Done deal.

This link is now gathering pace....

this is taken from today's Journal......

Highly-rated Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is also open to a move to Newcastle if a deal can be struck with Sporting Lisbon.

It was widely reported in the Portuguese press yesterday that Newcastle were favourites to land the £10million-rated player (pictured right) who turns 24 next week, although there is also interest from Tottenham, Liverpool and Cologne.

His agent Lous Laros, when contacted by The Journal last night, did not deny there had been interest in Wolfswinkel from St James’ Park – and vice versa.

There is clearly a lot more work to be done if – and it remains a big if – Wolfswinkel is to go anywhere; Sporting Lisbon would want top dollar for their main goalscorer who has bagged 34 goals from 65 games since moving from Erevidise in June 2011.

However, Laros said: “I won’t name specific clubs as that is a private matter, but what I will say is there is big interest in Ricky from England.

“I have passed on this information to Sporting and it is up to them to come to any agreement and then we could negotiate.

“Can something happen this month? In football, you just never know what might happen. We are laid-back about the situation.

“Ricky is like any player in that he is ambitious and the Premier League is a fantastic place. He is happy for the moment in Lisbon. There have been reports that he has requested a transfer, but that is not true.”

Asked specifically about Newcastle, Laros said: “I know the club well. I spoke to them a lot in the summer when they tried to buy Luuk de Jong, who is also our player. They are not in such a good position right now in the league, but that is a good club.”

" The fact he isn't French rules this one out mate "

Pardew has indicated that he'll only sign Wolfswinkel if he changes his name by deed poll to Ricky van Le coq du chien.

What the hell is going on??? Early doors I know but if all these signings come off is it proof that Ashley and Llambias have woken up to reality finally?

Yes, I think we're still a striker light even with every mooted inbound player. Makes for a formidable squad, but over-reliance on Cisse cannot be good. RvW is a great shout, as is Wilfried Bony. Any others?

As I keep saying, the bigger picture is this Sky TV money. Get relegated this year and you miss out massively.

If he comes great, finally we are getting some depth, sadly its 6 months to late to knock on from last year
Still worried we will not replace baa or colo. as before January we needed 1 top cb to go along side colo
So if colo goes we Are back to square one.
Sissoko would be a class signing As I worry we are a tad light weight in the middle of the park
When tiote is either away, injuired or nOrmally banned
We need a forward in by Tuesday

His represntatives offered him to us apparently, bid has also been made apparently. Getting him, Sissoko and S. De Jong with Mbiwa would make a monstrous spine to the team

The question is the bid then. If they wanted 10 million I bet Ashley and co. would start off with a 4million bid.

I'd say that they'd start off with 6 Million to be fair. I mean a 4 million bid would be shot down instantly, so what's the point in starting so small?

Not sure how much negotiation room there is on a deal like this. More than likely he's been offered to everyone, and the likes of Spurs, Arsenal etc are far more attractive than Newcastle United right now. Very much doubt this transfer is on guys.
