If true then it is a pity.

I mentioned before that we have a really young central midfield and could do with someone experienced to be in the "steady the ship" role towards the end of games.

    Good luck Richie.

I actually agree - but did predict this on another thread - as I mentioned there, I get the feeling that NP is keen to move on the older and, possibly, bigger wage earning, players ...

We must surely be bringing another cm then if he does go. If we pick up any injuries we'd be very short in that position.

I don't think we're any shorter in CM than we would be if someone in any other position got injured (except maybe ST). I'm sure Wellens will have a recall clause in his loan, and I imagine Danns may do too. I wouldn't expect to see another CM brought in until Danns, Wellens, or both, are off the books permanently. If we're short of reliable cover in any position, I'd say it's either full back.

We've been overstocked in CM since Sven came in, although Pearson didn't help by bringing in DD and James <laugh>

Since the Sven days Matt Oakley, Yuki Abe, Gelson Fernandes and Michael Johnson have left and Neil Danns is out on loan. Wellens hasn't played all season so that leaves us with just James, King and Drinkwater. Should anything happen to one of them then we would be seriously short in a very important position

Precisley. Taking Wellens and Danns out of the equation (as it doesn't look likely that either will feature for us this season) leaves us with King, Drinkwater and James. If any of those 3 got injured or suffered a loss of form we'd be very thin in the centre of the pitch and we can't afford that while we're gunning for promotion.

But by that logic, surely you could say the same about:

    GK - Schmeichel, Logan
LB - Konchesky the only recognised LB in the squad especially whilst Schlupp is with Man Utd.
RB - De Laet, Moore, St Ledger when required and when fit.

I stand by what I said before - I don't expect another CM until Wellens or Danns leave permanently. If any key squad members get injured, I'd expect us to dip into the loan market, or maybe even start to blood any of the promising youngsters in the academy side who Pearson/Rudkin think are ready to step up.

2 Keepers is more then enough and with your being able to loan keepers all season round we dont need a keeper

Left back is a worry and has been all season. Should anything happen to Konchesky we have no recognised left back

Right back is fine with Ritchie De Laet and Liam Moore

Man U want Schlupp as a left back not a striker/winger so I dont think it will effect it
