Will we ever see Sam Magri in the Pompey 1st team?

?

Will we ever see Sam Magri play for the Pompey 1st team?

  1. Yes, he will probably be involved in some capacity next season (cup games, unused sub, ect)

  2. It will be another 2 or 3 years before he is ready, but he will get his time at Pompey

  3. No, he will be shown the exit door before being given a full run out for the team

For anyone who doesn't know who he is, here's a new article on him:

So, do you think we will ever see him play in the Pompey first team? He looks like a very promising youngster, my fear is that with Cotterill at the helm, he will be shipped out and told "good luck wherever you may end up" before we ever see him.

People are saying that he is too young for a starting role. However, it is possible to begin your career from a young age - look at Rooney. I mean, I realise that he is an exceptional player, but he was only 16 when he started for Everton. Other examples include Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale, both 16.

The only thing against him at the moment (apart from Mr Cotterill's dislike for young players) is that Andy Awford; youth academy coach, has said that he is not ready to be playing for Pompey yet. Still, to be part of the England set up is pretty impressive <ok>

I would have preferred to have put (2) and if the "take over" <steam> actually happens it will be more likely to be so. But with our threadbare squad as it stands, I can see him (unless he has a note from matron) being required to get changed into his games kit and sit on the bench instead of sneaking behind the changing rooms for a crafty *** during the match.

Watching the England game now, Magri looks ok, decent on the ball but don't think he is tall enough to make it as a centre back, think he would be more suited to right back as he likes to run forward with the ball. I think that he will be snapped up by a premier league team within the next few years without making an appearance for Pompey. I hope i am proven wrong, but if he is that good why stay at pompey? By moving to a club with a better youth academy and better facilities he will be able to develop his ability rather than stay at pompey where this is unlikely to happen. We have seen this in recent years with many of our youngsters, they are not good enough by the time they reach the first team (Joel Ward an exception), and our youth academy and training facilities are not the best place to mould a potential future England star. So for his career it would be better for him to move clubs.

On a side note England look awful. Most of the players look uncomfortable on the ball and lack any creativity or imagination when attacking, and result to lumping the ball upfront to a lone striker who has the ability but on his own his not a threat (just like the actual England team then). I hold no hope for the future of English football.
