Thankfully, hope Roman sees it that way <laugh> His moronic tactics cost us the game vs Southampton and nearly cost us the game vs Arsenal at the weekend, he'll probably start Torres over Ba tonight aswell <doh>

Style, we're far from clean and as a club are probably the most stupidest club there is but the debate/discussion isn't about us, and it isn't so much ruining their careers it's more whenever he has a go or criticises them they seem to get demoted the following week and end up reffing lower league games. I'm sure there was another incident a few years ago with some ref where he came out and called him fat, unfit and blind as well. Can't remember the guys name but i'm sure he retired a few months later

Probably because Rafa getting banned from the touchline would help us more than other teams <laugh>

And didn't Pardrew get banned a couple of months ago? And Allardyce? Quite a lot do get banned or fined

Fair enough, i remember him questioning a refs weight but i'm pretty sure he got a punishment for that? (i have no intention of using google to find out).

He does put pressure on Refs i don't think anyone could claim he doesn't but hes not the only manager and i wonder if anyone would take any notice if we hadn't been tearing up the league for the last 20 years.

He got a ban and a fine, even though he's never punished!

Mancini said that a referee had eaten too much over Christmas and faced no punishment. Only Sir Alex gets away with that sort of thing though!

It is a complete myth that Sir Alex gets away with everything and other managers get away with nothing. Compete bullshit.

I think most refs rotate to lower league games on a fairly regular basis, so that's not much of a surprise.

That was Alan Wiley, he questioned his fitness level saying he was walking up the pitch when one of the goals were scored in need of a rest (Fergie was fined £20k and given a 4 match touchline ban, 2 of those were suspended), Wiley retired to become a coach about half a season later after a whole host of big mistakes which had him firmly in the media's spotlight for all the wrong reasons, he was already a year over the age limit at that time I think.

Fergie unquestionably has a vicious streak and you wouldn't want to cross him but he is also respected and, by and large, liked by his players, colleagues and peers. Most have positive things to say about the man as well as the manager. Rafa on the other hand has very few fans of Rafa the man and, apart from a few Liverpool players, Rafa the manager. Even his title winning Valencia players loathed him. Probably because he's a ****.

I think you will find it is the 30 hi-res, super slo-mo camera`s around the ground that highlight the officials mistakes and ruins there careers, of course it could just be that they are bad at what they do. Do you really think the FA take a managers word on how good their Officials are when they have their own observers at the ground plus the benefit of afore said camera`s?

If you're talking about anyone ruining refs' careers then step forward Chelsea and take a bow for mastering the art!

The argument about SAF and refs is complete rubbish and based on a selective interpretation of the facts and the arguments of the tabs. Take Beck for example - the last time he ran the line for us was when he gave Drogba onside when he was about a mile off. He was slated by SAF, and 99% of pundits and commentators, on national TV and yet felt no need to give us the benefit of the doubt at the weekend, and in fact turned down a clear penalty.

As has already been stated, he has never ever ended a referee's career. Wiley was criticised by SAF for being unfit at the start of the season and retired at the end of the season, in line with FA age guidelines and also after having made a complete hash of several high profile games including missing red card tackles, failing to spot a deliberate kick and completely cocking up most of the major decisions in an FA cup semi final, including disallowing a goal after the keeper was impeded by his own defender! So you could argue SAF actually raised a valid point, and had he been listened to the standard of refereeing that season would have been much higher.

As for refs being demoted, that's more a function of the PGMOL rule on the media. Just look at your comments - you are well aware of the incidents involving SAF and the name of the linesman he criticised but can you, without Googling, name the ref Allardyce has been charged for criticising? Or, as a Chelsea fan, the ref AVB was charged for criticising last season? Fact is when SAF makes a comment the media make a storm about it, it's headline news on most news websites for several days, and hence the FA feel the need to take the ref out of the spotlight due to media pressure. Same principle as Clattenburg being dropped for four games after the accusations against him - nothing to do with a 'punishment', just the fact that the media can make life difficult for referees..
