No it's not! Enjoy the journey spurf! (Really hoping there's a holtby announcement in the next 24 hours)
Good shout with Smith, he's been getting rave reviews in his last couple of loans. Even better! Saha is a great back up to have in my opinion.
Damiao not picked for Brazil squad...not playing well? http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/189631.html No Kaka either, but thats no surprise.
Glad you've posted this. Unless injured, this could just prove that people on here have been over-hyping him way too much. His goal record isn't much better than Defoe's (if at all) while playing in an inferior league and yet so many seem adamant this is the guy to take us forward and lead our line. This is a similar case with my argument with Moutinho, who really knows how good this guy actually is? He plays, (like Damiao) in an inferior league, is 26 and yet all of a sudden, Porto slap a £20m+ price tag on him and now everyone (or most) thinks he's the man to run the midfield just because AVB likes/ wanted him. You can get players like Isco, Banega etc, who (probably) cost less, are younger, play in better leagues and in my opinion, have one of the main attributes that we crave - creativity.
I think the thing about Moutinho that we as a club have a somewhat unique angle on is that AVB managed him in a seriously successful season only a couple of years ago and AVB has clearly kept close tabs on his progress since. Our manager knows the player well and clearly thinks he can succeed in this league. While the likes of Isco, Banega and the others mentioned are fantastic talents I believe I'm right in saying that they primarily operate as attacking midfielders/no. 10s, and we've just signed Holtby to come in in the summer (and potentially by the end of the month) to play in that kind of role. Moutinho is more of a box-to-box, who IMO would compete with Dembele or potentially operate alongside him in a 4-3-3. He might be untested in the Prem but AVB knows him and as been after him from the word 'go'. Hence why we came close to spending over £20m on him in the summer. The striker situation is a whole new kettle of fish though. It clearly needs resolving but buying quality from someone else in the Prem will be very expensive. We pretty much have to look abroad to get value but that can always be a risk.
Belhanda's move to Fenerbache has broke down in the last few days, with Juventus now reportedly interested, he's playing for Morocco right now, no.10...if you can bear it!
We know that out there somewhere are the next generation of top players, including strikers. Hopefully our scouts/contacts will alert us to them. Bale, Lennon, Walker, Dawson, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick, Sandro, Naughton, BAE, were all found pretty much in this way. Not a bad list.
LOL, i was about to reply to notso with the same thing. Those Vuvuzela's are so annoying. I tried to have a look at belhanda, but gave up as I didn't see him touch the ball once. The only contribution i witnessed from him was a shirt pull
You think so PNP? Surely playing in a side that are fighting for promotion will bode well for him, better than sitting on bench at least? Also heard that Coulibaly might be on way out on loan too?
Has he ?? I am surprised at this and also disappointed. A couple of decent championship sides had made enquiries about him and I would have thought he would have been better off going to one of them.
Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial NEWS ---> Yago Falque has joined Premera Liga promotion hopefuls Almeria on loan until the end of the season #THFC I am too. I've liked what little we've of Falque this season. - I have to agree with PNP, it doesn't look good for his future. he's 23 now, and we've barely seen anything of him since he signed.
