with our links to Italy through NC nad our links to Argentina/Spain through MP I'd be surprised if we wern't at least linked with a host of Inter players. With their need to raise quick funds I can see us pushing something through towards the end of the transfer window for one or two of these talented players, even if it's on loan with a view to buy.

I'm excited about the future I have to admit. being linked with International footballers and talented individuals whilst also re-itterating the policy of brining through the younger players is bloomin marvellous.

How long though before we bring in an Argentinian or Brazilian kid who is completely unheard off straight from South America, ala Barca with Messi?

We should totally poach Beckham from Chelsea. Brooklyn, that is. Show Posh and Becks the video. They'll both easily fall for it.

Southampton are being linked to unsettled Espanyol central defender Diego Colotto, but he hardly played under Mauricio Pochettino.
The rumours about Espanyol players being targeted by the new Saints boss were bound to surface with just over a week left in the January transfer window, but Colotto was not a favourite of Pochettino's during his time in charge at the club.
The Argentinean defender, who left Deportivo la Coruna on a free transfer in the summer after starting 36 matches in their promotion campaign, was often overlooked by Pochettino before the coach parted company with his employers in November.
He started only four games for his then-boss and was immediately dropped following a 3-0 home defeat to Osasuna.
Since Javier Aguirre took charge of the Barcelona-based team in December, Colotto has started seven successive matches which suggests he is now back in favour at the club.
However, rumours of his unrest have been surfacing and there were claims that the 31-year-old uncapped defender was looking for a move to the Premier League in this transfer window.
Pochettino, who has taken his Saints squad to Barcelona for a mid-season break, could offer Colotto that chance but based on his record under him at Espanyol this could be more agent talk.

It's probably safe to assume that we'll now be linked with any member of the Espanyol squad who looks like they may be out of favour, or who want away.

Worried about this .

Either WE ( Club ) are taking a huge gamble on staying up by spending crazy money .

OR

WE have crazy money to throw about .

Or

We ( Club ) will spend big now to ( TRY AND ) come straight back up again IF the worst happens ?

4000th post...

Do I win?

*EDIT* To add actual substance to this post, in regards to Coutinho I wouldn't refer to it as throwing money about at all. If the fee is true then we are simply paying a very reasonable amount of money for a player with the ability and talent to live up to that price tag and go far beyond. Not planning to get back up, not desperately trying to cling on to and not get relegated, just buying a good player that improves us as a team, now and in the future.
