Just had an image of the interpretor standing next to the 4th official with steam coming out of his translating tablet
I liked that too. No point arguing with the officials, it won't make them change their minds and it'll just piss them off.
So, why haven't the extended highlights on Saints Player got the attack where Baines cleared off the line? Vin
Been watching these posts for a while and felt ready to chime in: Whilst I am gutted that NA has gone and kicked the dog a few times over the weekend 'cos the feelgood factor has gone from the Saints for the moment, I am really proud of the Saints fans at the Everton game - they showed real class and put the plastic Chelsea brats in their place. Also pleased with Adkins for showing the man he is and not making a fuss or popping up in the media. The team that gets him will be lucky and, if they are a championship team, will be an instant bet to come up. But I wonder how much player power came into this. I wonder if the some of the players, or prospective players, wanted a European influence - Morgan in particular. He has been all over the official site since NA left and he was pretty effusive about MP on Sky after the game - in stark contrast to Rickie and SKD who have been the proper pros through all of this.
Did some looking into this, went back through United's home games back until the start of 2010/11 season. In the last 49 home games, United have had 57 yellow cards and 2 red cards, whilst the away teams have had a total of 83 yellow cards and 7 red cards. In terms of this season (can't go back further), United have on average at home committed 11 fouls, and the away team also averages 11, and United have had 40 yellow cards in total but only 15 of those came at home. Make from that as you will people!
This is going to be skewed by the fact that United at home are going to dominate 90% of teams they face, hence will not be required to commit as many fouls as their opponents.
I do agree, just thought I'd put the stats out there as requested, but I will point to the fact that so far this season in United's 11 home games, they have averaged exactly the same amount of fouls as their opponents, although unfortunately I can't go back further. Regardless of that their opponents may need to make more professional/desperation fouls which would generally lead to more cards than your average foul, but obviously this doesn't come out in the stats.
you'd need a bigger sample to draw any meaningful conclusions. Though if you covered the whole history of the premier league, the stats would then be skewed by the influence of Roy Keane! For what it's worth, I suspect that while Fergie has clearly attempted to bully officials, it probably hasn't worked for him. In some cases it will probably have been counter-productive, but either way it he shouldn't be getting away with it.
Spot on Archers. He is the leading manager in this country and should be setting anexample. I coach kids and the RESPECT campaign is hammered into us by the FA; they need to start hammering that message in a little closer to home.
No surprise that Adkins has shown nothing but dignity, as he is a top guy. I would be very surprised if there was an issue with player power to be honest, i just don't get that vibe from the squad;from a distance of course. I think it's just random that it was Morgans turn to have a chat on player, or maybe because he had an excellent game. Of course the players may benefit from the European connection, in that it could improve the squad. By the way, welcome to the forum.
