I simply cannot decide, who would be the best player to partner Cody up front. So help me out here, who would you choose and why?
If you could only have a choice of one I would have to choose Burton. Each have different qualities. Kedwell probably works harder than Burton and Bayo & is more of a target figure. Bayo has the strength you'd want from a No.9, but he & Burton need the ball to played to them below head height. Burton probably possesses a bit more quality in terms of ball control on the deck, and - certainly away from home he has shown a lot of class and the ability to bring others into play around him. In an ideal situation we would be able to utilise all of them to change the game as necessary.
Bayo would be my first choice, then Keds then Burton, but as always says it would be great to use them all to change the game. UTG!
What does this do for poor Adam Birchall or even the invincible Danny Kedwell should Bayo rejoin ? and where does that put one Ashley Miller's chances of being involved when but only a season ago it looked like he was breaking through early and with effect...will he be seen again ???
Got to be Bayo and Cody. However, My take on this, if I was in MA's shoes, would be to ask Hessy "What the hell are you doing, we don't need another target man". But if Bayo does sign on a 2 year deal, then I would have to look at loaning out Birchill for the season to compensate for the loan of Cody, preferably to a lower league 2 club (Wimbledon, Barnet, D & R ?). Then he will take over from Cody next season, unless we can find a way of matching or getting close to Cody's wages. As for Kedwell? Well Has to stay as the natural backup for the big man. Burton as the 4th choice.
Burton or Keds Partnering Cody or Birchall 2 playing, other 2 on the bench. As said elsewhere, maybe Deon away, keds at home. Birchall starting, Cody sub, till Cody is match fit, then Cody starting, Birchall coming on as sub when required. imho, we don't need Bayo, but wouldn't turn him away if we got him. It would just mean one of Keds/Burton being sold. Probably Keds. Only 2 reasons I see for getting Bayo in would be - 1/ the statement it sends to our fans and our rivals. We are going up! 2/ it stops rivals getting him. Rotherham etc. Be good to annoy fatty again
As I said in the original post, I really cannot make up my mind between the three, however, I do believe we only need two of the three IF Bayo was to come to us. Have not checked this morning sports news yet. We should have a choice of two of the big guys, while having the agility of BOTH Cody and Birchall, this also gives the younger members in the squad an open opportunity if we pick up any knocks through this second half of the season. The difficulty for me on the three big lads is that I have hardly seen any away games, only two I think alwaysright? - so I cannot fairly judge Burton. Bayo seems to be knocking them in for Northampton but would that be his job partnering Cody. Lastly Keds sadly is not an out and out goal scorer but we do not need him to be with Cody, also this might take some of the pressure off Keds shoulders, with my assumption of what Cody's wages must be, so in return the great expectation would turn to him.
If we are being logical about this though, it may well be a short term gain long term loss again. Say we sign Bayo to compliment, Cody. End of the season Cody has scored loads of goals and Coventry have a change of heart about the player and take him. We are then down to having three similar strikers with only Birchall being able to offer us the quick agile striker option. Bayo is currently on £2,500 a week at Northampton so we would have to at least match those wages to secure him, add that to perhaps £100-£200k transfer fee. And say we are paying 50% of Cody's wages at £3,000 a week. Even though we have some funds left over, do we really want to blow it all in one go and perhaps not have enough funds for extra players in the summer for if we have got promoted? We have proof that Bayo and Cody worked so most people will go for that option though. Me personally, I think both Burton and Kedwell can offer the same attributes that will work for Cody. I would rather utilise the players we have at the moment, then perhaps blow the last of our budget on a player who can easily turned by another offer. We mustn't forget that he left us rather than we let him go.
How do we know what he is on at Northampton? If someone quotes another wage from Football Manager on here I might actually go nuts.
Peg Leg....I'm with you. As I've posted earlier, our team goals tally is pretty good. Cody can add something whereas I don't think Bayo actually brings any more to the table than we already have.
I can see the logic in pairing Bayo with Cody again and it has to be said Bayo has been in immense form this season, so i would love to see Bayo back
The fact that I haven't played football manager since 2005 is kind of insulting that you would assume I just plucked that fee from a game. Here: http://www.northampton-news-hp.co.u...enwa-over-transfer-rumours-20130119191356.htm
First up, perhaps you do not pull figures from a game but there are members here and on most other Gillingham forums who are using Fifa and FM to get what they then call accurate wage figures... Personally I do not believe any source on wages unless a club itself goes on the record with them.
The choice is not really as wide as brb makes it sound. If we have a MacBayo joint signing, the pair would have been given assurances about being first choice. Why else would they join? If that happened Burton would be on the bench where he could be useful and Kedwell would not get a sniff barring injuries. On the other hand if it was only a Cody signing, Kedwell is a better all round foil and his greater mobility would be needed because Cody was not the most prolific worker in his own half nor would we expect him to be.
very difficult question, as it really depends how you want to play a bit as often MA likes the 2 big men upfront approach! the only thing that sways it for me is bayos scoring ability, he seems to get more goals than the others but then the other havent started as consistantly as he has. difficult one!
Kedwell and Cody at home with burton and Cody away, however Birchall still needs to be given a chance.
