The Club understands the disappointment of these fans and would like to take the opportunity to clarify the procedures and regulations surrounding the fulfilment of games, so that all of our loyal supporters have a complete and accurate understanding of the obligations of all clubs when hosting a home fixture, and the circumstances of last Friday in particular. "In anticipation of adverse weather in the build-up to Friday nightâs game, the Club took every possible precaution to ensure that the fixture went ahead, while liaising regularly with the Football League, the match officials, the relevant local authorities, Middlesbrough Football Club and supporters. âSuch advance planning â including the provision of additional personnel, resources and equipment throughout the day, coupled with the outstanding efforts of the Club's grounds, stadium and safety staff, ensured that King Power Stadium was fully operational, despite the onset of heavy snow during Friday afternoon, in the hours prior to kick-off. âIt is the Clubâs responsibility to ensure that King Power Stadium is in an appropriate condition for its home fixtures to be fulfilled. As a consequence of the successful preparation, the match officials decided that the game should go ahead, albeit with a delay to the kick-off time to allow for Middlesbroughâs disrupted journey to the stadium. âWhile we appreciate that, very regrettably, the adverse weather made it difficult for a significant number of supporters to attend the game, only the match officials, the cityâs Safety Advisory Group or the police can initiate a postponement. Once both playing squads, the match officials and essential stadium staff had arrived and the requisite conditions had been deemed fit for play, there were no grounds on which the match officials or relevant agencies would take such action. âThe Club would like to express its sincere appreciation to the supporters that did make it to the game and contributed to an important result for the team, which subsequently saw us finish the weekend in the npower Championshipâs automatic promotion places. The Club will put all its efforts behind the first team in its bid for promotion this season, and the players and all staff of the Club will endeavour at all times to provide winning football home and away, and a great matchday experience at King Power Stadium." A spokesman for the Football League added: âIt is hugely unfortunate that so many ticket holders missed the game. However, these were exceptional and challenging circumstances that were outside of Leicester City's control. "The Football League is satisfied - given that the referee had determined that the playing surface was playable, that both sides were ready to start the game and that a significant number of people were in the stadium - that it was correct to play the match."
STH's will be able to get an extra ticket for one of the home league games for free Still doesnt compensate but at least its something
1 hour before the kick off we only had 9 players at the stadium and Sean St. Ledger had offered to play despite being injured
I thought they wouldn't refund, mainly because it will be hard to tell if you got there or not, eg. if you went, but still sent in your ticket for a refund, unless the electronic system can tell you if a ticket has been used or not.
Football in general, and leicester city fc, are selling a service..if their customers cannot access that service ,whats it all for then? in no other walk of life would that be acceptable..everybody knows the real truth , the customers of sky are valued more than the loyal customers of leicester city or and other club.. NO FANS MEANS NO FOOTBALL ..FACT ! folllwing on from ipswitch last season this just shows deep down the complete contempt the powers that be have for the people who actually keep the clubs going...
Yes it can tell if it has been used. First time I went with my son this season I accidently put the same ticket in twice and it didn't let me So they can tell if it has been used or not
I figured they wouldnt refund because the club isnt responsible for peoples ability to get to the ground.
perhaps they should honour the pie and a pint offer at another game. I was undecided weather to get a ticket for the match. I decided against it as it was on sky and I'll save the money for another game. Bloddy glad I did there is no way i'd have got in from Northampton
funny, I always thought football was a spectator sport, so if sky had not been there and no spectators could get there, it would still have gone ahead? doubt it..
To be fair to the club after the game went ahead it would be hard to reward or compensate fans who didn't go People who brought tickets should be refunded by people who have STHs the club are in a dilemma. If they offer some sort of compensation people who did go who made the effort will say they deserve something aswell In my opinion they should refund match tickets and offer all the STHs whether they went or not something. Even if its a cup game this season or next for free. Just to make up to those who couldn't go and reward people who suffered the conditions
The reasons that people couldn't get to the ground were out of the club's control. You can't legislate for extreme gridlock due to extreme weather. This business with Sky is one thing, and I agree to an extent that had it not been on TV it would have been more likely to get postponed, but it's not like Sky pay money on a game by game basis otherwise there would be some teams who wouldn't receive hardly any compared to teams at the top.

Its totally logical when you realise the mentality of trying to chisel as much out of core supporters as possible ..it kills two birds with one stone ..looks generous and gets the fans to do the marketing for the club.. subtle its not..most people can see straight through it....
Its poor. I have already paid for my ticket so giving me discount on more tickets doesnt reward me It just rewards my mates for being part time supporters
There is no point in saying " It would have been called off if it wasn't on Sky" because if it wasn't on Sky, it would have been played on Saturday where the conditions were better anyway. LCFC couldn't win either way. If they didn't prepare the pitch because they thought the game wouldn't go ahead and fans turned up and it was called off, they would have got moaned at for that too.
But the club didnt know only 8.5K was going to turn up. Do they go at kick off theres not enough here and call the game off? The club cant be blamed for the game not being called off but that shoddy "reward" to STHs is a joke
