Hi, I remember reading a few months back that we had entered into some sort of season ticket arrangement with a 3rd party. Does anyone know what the deal involves and will Watford see any of the revenue from season tickets this year?
If you have nothing to do for hte afternoon you should find it discussed somewhere in the 5000 posts on the Nest - or there might be an article if you look at the other pages - if I come across it I will point you to it - or ask the question on the Nest as most people read that
As far as I am aware it was a deal that we sell a % of the income from season ticket sales in order to get a quick in flow if revenue to tide us over for the time being. I think the main issue raised from this was how could we be sure of the revenues cos if you sell 40% and then only get 50% of expected income what happens then? Surely it's a bit risky. Sorry I can't be more help Mark.
Ok let me try and abbreviate. I have just renewed my 3 tickets and went through the Watford FC link into a Ticketmaster screen. So Ticketmaster have taken my cash, the club have not seen this (yet?). Last December the club signed an agreement with Ticketus Services (35) ltd so that Ticketus gave the club a sum of ã1.5m in advance of this summers ST revenue. The first ãx of season ticket revenue will go to this company (via Ticketmaster). Leeds entered into this kind of arrangement when they were "successful". This type of lending is not cheap as Ticketmaster do loads of administration (which they charge for) - this is in addition to all of Ticketus's costs. In summary the club were very desperate for cash at the end of last year and whilst you may have thought the club might have received a cash boost now, that cash has already been spent. This is a strong indication of the club's cash woes, these woes will only be resolved by player sales - new cash, not debt. I hope that helps. I will try and check my credit card statement to see the name of the organisation who I have paid my money to.
I am getting nostalgic for mine - wish I could afford to buy one even though I cannot get there often
Leo maybe you should go down the players sponsorship route, that way you can give money to the club and your not wasting a season ticket! I mean sponsoring a shirt is roughly ã500 or pair of boots was ã125! athough presonally I am holding off renewing untill i get some re-assuring facts and figures from Mr B! Even though I will probably continue anyway!
I must admit, I'm considering the sponsorship route this season! There's a few away games I've ear-marked for attendance - hoping Swansea is at the weekend this season, Cardiff, Bristol City, Southampton, Brighton, and hoping Bournemouth go up plus the few home games I get to each season!
Its just a way that you can assist , without having to be there every saturday The offish site lays it all out quite clearly, any questions give a call to Jane Phillips!
Both our ST's renewed on Direct Debit, got the confirmation in the post this morning. We will probably do our sponsorship again this season, it's worth it just to go to the sponsors night and have a chat with a few players as well..COYH
Elixir has it right. It's not a percentage, it's a fixed but to my knowledge undisclosed fee. Probably in the region of ã1.8-2m. It would have presented cash flow problems this season even if we sold Graham (take off ã2m for the ticketus deal, ã400k for money owed on last season's transfers, a significant percentage of the fee to appease Malky, and there'll be virtually nothing left), which is undoubtedly why Dasani was required to guarantee ã3.5m of working capital as a cast iron condition of the takeover deal.
I suppose to a large degree our hands were tied and we were forced into Mr B`s takeover or face going into admin! Good point NNW!
