I still find it strange Al Ahly's entire staff and the man himself say Hull have made an offer for him, since the Hull & East Rising say otherwise. Anyways, as promised, here's our extensive profile on Ahmed Fathi: http://www.kingfut.com/2013/01/21/player-profile-ahmed-fathi/ Lots of time & research gone into this, hope you enjoy it!
Surely the situation is that fathi is only back up in case we can't get elmo back, so it's been mentioned but only a passing interest at this stage whereas with gedo the wheels are very much in motion.
Yes, I realize that's the word. My team has spoken to his agent and he says the offer is there. Plus Al Ahly's official website say the same. What happens if Bruce doesn't get Elmo back this break? Surely he's going to need cover - and this is the perfect replacement.
Thanks for that Apthh. I wouldn't be complaining if we got him and Gedo. At this time in the season clubs need players with enthusiasm and these two fighting to prove themselves could be a shot in the arm for team spirit.
Thanks Apthh, I would prefer Fathi to Elmo, purely to stick two fingers up at MON, and I'm sure we could sign Fathi on a permanent for much less than we could with Elmo.
I would prefer to trust Al Alhy on this, rather than the Hull Daily Mail - especially as the article has no quotes from myself or anyone else at Hull City AFC.
Cheers Apthh very much appreciated wouldn't mind having both Elmo and Fathi to be honest. Either way you look at this it must spell the end for Rosenior.
Cheers Apthh very much appreciated. In all honesty would like to see Gedo, Fathi and Elmo all at the club would add great depth!
My pleasure lads, glad you're finding the pieces useful. I'd love to see all 3 Egyptians contributing to Hull's promotion!
How so? It has been confirmed by their club manager, their club board, the players agent and it has been confirmed by Bruce that he is after at least one player from Egypt. Even Fathi himself gave an interview where he said he wanted to come here and help us get promotion and he hopped the club would let him.
Couldn't agree more, ellewoods. Why is it a nonsense rumour SB has confirmed that we are interested in one, no need for him to to confirm that to Burnsy.
Bruce said he was interested in one Egyptian and went on to say that any deal was way off being done (suggesting to me that it wouldn't be this window if we ever did complete one). Since then I've been told by someone directly involved in our transfers that it's not happening. These foreign clubs and players often try to make a big deal our of stuff like this all the time because they want to generate interest in the player. They think that other clubs might become interested as a result of the story. I remember a few years ago when Freddy Adu was signing for Aris in Greece he claimed he also had an offer from us and he was deciding between the two clubs but it was a load of ball, he just wanted to generate a bit of interest. I reckon it's the same thing.
I disagree with this comparison to the Freddy Adu situation (after all, the man moves clubs on a yearly basis). Ahly's players have generated interest from European clubs for years now, and they almost never let them go. Think about it, how many Ahly players, better yet, how many Egyptian players do you know who've played in Europe? (not many). In fact, the only star Ahly have sold to a European club in the last decade was Hossam Ghaly. They are not a selling club; they rather hold on to their key players until they retire (they currently have Abou-Treika (34), Wael Gomaa (38) and numerous others 30+ who've previously drawn much interest from Europe). Plus you're forgetting Hull City have a partnership deal with them. Do you think Ahly would risk that just to generate interest in a player they're not keen on selling? We'll know in the next few days whether this materializes or not, but I can tell you this: it's no rumor.
