So to recap we have:

Mbiwa
Haidara
Momo Sissoko and/or Moussa Sissoko
Florian Thauvin
Yoan Gouffran
Ricky Van Wolfswinkel

All due in by Friday. Good stuff..........................

I'll be happy with Mbiwa. I expect none over the line <laugh>. I reckon Mike and Derek are just sitting in bed together at home, ringing up Sky and other media sources, putting on French accents and then giggling like little girls when they put the phone down.

If everything that's been mentioned comes off, it's about £20 million net spend.

We got about £5 m for Ba (I know we paid agent's fees at the beginning, but I'm talking net in this transfer window.

Debuchy is £5.5 m
Mbiwa £6.7 m
Haidara £2.1 m
Goffran £2.5 m
Sissiko £8.0 m ?

Okay, £20 m is a sizeable spend, but we are in a considerably net profit position on transfers over the last 3 years. All of the signings are either bargains or at least sound investments. If MA is worried that we may go down (and he'd be a fool not to be) then now is the time to spend those pennies

Siss is £2.5 because of the contract situation! This is why I thought people were being a bit harsh on Ashley for not paying over the odds in summer, because this window is a decent time to sign players for good value due to contracts running out.

okay, £15m net spend.

I mean i know it's an enormous amount of money, but in football, it's not that much

The players we are getting for that £15 mil is just ridiculous. Why are they interested in our club at all? I just don't get it!

Thats ****ing cheap as chips if we get them all for that price. Even more so if they keep us up. Lets see how good they turn out to be though.

Who cares why they choose to come, just so long as they do, then pull on the black and white shirt, have 50k Geordies cheering them to the rafters and playing their socks off to stop the rot.
No need to analyze, just say Allez le Bleu et noir et blanc.

I like the positive thinking on this thread of "these deals are happening".

I might set up a Newcastle Fans Transfer Failure helpline just in case though. Premium rate.

Come to England and join a big club with amazing fans. Establish themselves as players and move on perhaps? If we pull this off without getting too excited I can see us pushing on.

The sissoko deal is apparently a pre contract only... so no fee as it kicks in during the summer.
If this is the case it's an even better result.
Although.... maybe Tiote will be out of the door...

Don't see how him signing a pre contract only is a better result? Surely we need him now? If we end up going down that pre contract will be worthless.

And our players are the most handsome in the league, we are all just too beautiful.......now if we can just transfer some of that onto the pitch.......we will be awesome.

If this one is a pre-contract then that's just being done for extra leverage.

I'd have thought he'd move now but just before the window shuts, with his club just being as awkward as possible.
Apparently they are prepared to drop him from the squad for rest of season so it wouldn't make financial sense to drop him to reserves, pay wages and let him go for nothing in summer.

Most are saying he's scheduled to arrive in Newcastle on Thursday for talks and medical – http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...gning-Massadio-Haidara-Mapou-Yanga-Mbiwa.html

It'll take maybe a token payment of his remaining salary to deliver him now I reckon. But all this is based on rumour, paper talk and theory, there's nothing to say this deal is actually happening...

IF, IF, we really do get these players, then we've almost funded a whole team on the sale of Andy Carroll (homegrown) and Demba Ba (signed on a free), by the time you add in the likes of Cabaye, Beni, Tiote, Eliott, Santon, Marveaux, Obertan, Anita...

And we can build another three teams, once we finally cash in on Shola. His fee has world record written all over it.
