That is a cracking goal <cracker>

Let's hope it helps him regain some confidence and clinical play for us when he comes back.

Gervinho could save our season <whistle>

His terrible form all started after last years ACON. Let's hope he does well this time and helps his country win it. Redemption for last year and gets his confidence BACK. For that reason, I will support the Ivory Coast.

He's always going to score great goals like that because he has lots of ability.

Its just his lack of composure that stops him being a top class player.

If he can do it for Ivory coast then he can do it for Arsenal. Don't forget that he's scored some goals already early this season for us. He seems to have a bit of a fragile confidence issue, but if he starts playing well and scoring goals like that, then he could realise his full potential with Arsenal. There's no denying that he is a player with a great deal of skill. He just needs to find the confidence to find it on a consistent basis.

I was listening to football weekly the other day and Jonathan Wilson correctly pin pointed the moment Gervinho lost all his confidence. It was in that final against Zambia in last year's ACON, and in the penalty shoot-out, the score was 7-7, and Gervinho had still not stepped up. For Ivory Coast's eight penalty, Toure was walking up to take it, but the management on the Ivory Coast bench told him to go back and let Gervinho take it, but he was so reluctant. Drogba had a word, and he did finally step up, and predictably he missed. Hence, his confidence got shot to bits and he turned up not looking like the player he was when he first joined us.

If he can perform in this ACON and help his country win it, then that will put that ghost to bed and he can move on.

But he also didn't get a proper run in the second half of the season. 7 out of his 11 league games after the ACoN he came on as a 70-80 minute sub.

Not much cushion to get back to form.

Probably cause Wenger could see the effect the ACON had on him in training.

Who's that player that scored for Ivory Coast? He had a really big forehead, believe his name is Gervinho? Africa's Messi?

He's had a good competition, let's hope it has instilled some confidence in his play and we see the benefits of it.

Not so bad! We have shown improvement under our new coach and rode with superior Mali for much of the game. We need to work on our BMT and penalties though. Someone's landed on Mars. <laugh>

Let's hope so. We need more attacking options on the bench and hopefully Gervinho can provide us with that in the final third of the season.
