There's been a few comments or questions on here regarding EPPP and our youth system so Here's a link explaining the pros and cons. For anyone interested we are currently a level 3 academy. http://whitehouseaddress.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/eppp-progression-or-destruction.html?m=1
Very interesting. Its right about the size and strength factor, look at Dean Windass - told he wasn't big enough and released by Brian Horton. Will we get some investment into this side of the club? What we need is Hull born players who will stick with the club, as it says re-paying the investment put into them. Kids do develop life skills at different ages, listening and learning skills are an ongoing process. This has to be the way forward :- http://whitehouseaddress.blogspot.c...02/why-germany-is-best-model-for-england.html
The thing is, if we do get any kids who are really good, it's very difficult to hold onto them, if Man Utd want a player of ours then there would be 2 things happening. 1. The player would want to go. 2. The amount would probably be too much for the club to knock it back.
I think some sort of restrictions should be in place to stop that happening, or some way of the player continuing there development with the original club and only being able to "transfer" after a certain age or a certain number of first team appearances maybe???
The rules have just been changed to make it easier for bigger clubs to nick youth players from other clubs with very little in the way of compensation, things are moving in completely the wrong direction.
It all boils down to cash in the end. To start with, the kids need more training sessions, but the coaches wages need paying - plus more sessions means we need bigger training facilities to accomodate the amount of kids training each night. Owners of clubs want immediate sucess for the amount of cash they are having to put into clubs which is understandable, its easier and cheaper to "poach" youngsters than develop the clubs own players.
As long as we stay with level 3 youyh facilities the vultures can have any potential talent we produce for a pittance
