I would love akinfenwa back at the club. His hold up play for a midfield like ours would be perfect

If he were to sign i would like to see weston and whelpdale push right up close to him and burton. Very attacking but that 4 forwards line with charlie lee and jack payne holding and our quality defence would be fit for league one

I think that it's generally accepted that someone like Kedwell ( Bayo ) needs a partner similar in style to Cody ( possibly Birchall) for both to be as effective regarding their respective strengths. For one reason or another this combination ( Kedwell/Birchall) hasn't been used much - therefore I don't think we're getting the best out of both players..... So I don't think we need to look to Bayo... just use what we've got in a more effective manner.
<and Kedwell can move a bit quicker than Bayo>

edit - looks like the weather won't affect Saturday !

Kedwell is a poor mans bayo. His touch is shocking and hold up play poor also. His heading isnt good enough burton is better at all the above thats before finishing! Kedwell has gone downhill in my opinions.

Kedwell is more of a team player and pops up in other places than just in attack. I KNOW WE'D ALL LOVE HIM TO BE AN OUT AND OUT SCORER........bit its not as if our goal tally is suffering that much. Take Pope's goals out of Vales equation........

Or put popes scoring into ours. League 1 playoff challange would be realistic.

Pope was an absolute handful against us and all he needed was half a chance against us and his header was pure quality. Kedders needs a good 5 or 6 chances to get a goal

    His header was what?

I am sorry I will accept when a goal is scored well past us, I have even applauded the odd stunner but Popes goal past us was nothing special.

Terrible defending gave him a free touch. There was no way he couldn't score from there.

Not sure we want/need Bayo as good as he is.
It would be at the expense of keds or Burton. I'd sooner keep those.

But as you say, maybe Danny and/or Keds swap? Hope not.

    Yeah, just seen that throwoff.
Not sure what happened. When I hit quick reply, I got a message "you can't post for 30 seconds", then when I sent it again, it's appeared on another thread. Very strange.

Anyone know if Bayo is travelling with Northampton to Aldershot for tonight's game?

    Should think he will be.

If he is up for offers then putting him out to possibly score tonight can only help his value.

if we do get him- does that mean a more route one/long ball football approach?

Would rather have Danny Kedwell ahead of Akinfenwa all day long. Kedwells defending from the front and workrate is second to none. Akinfenwa's lack of mobility used to drive me up the wall. Akinfenwa is a journeyman league 2 striker at best. Any team he plays in becomes completely one dimensional and his presence encourages long high balls to him that he will never win.

Well this isnt true. Hes not even all he is best with the ball to his feet and chest. Hold it up and then play it for the likes of weston and whelps. Yes id rather mcdonald by a long long shot but if it was to happen with akinfenwaa i wouldnt mind seein this team

I agree Akinfenwa is far better with balls played into his feet or chest but don't forget how many times Gills reverted to launching long, high balls at him. The result was numerous dire performances.

Yeah also if you look at Northampton they have the same problem, they can sometimes be on good form then it goes as they rely on him.

Nothampton winning away without him. I too feel that he would be an unnecessary addition to the Gills.
