I'd rather have bloody Shola playing than Darren Bent. At a time when we need players working hard together, the last thing we need is an overpaid egotistical twat in the team.

 

Bent's awful. Graham's another half-a$$ed thought. Someone else mentioned he'd give an extra 10% as it's the Toon. So would I, plus another 20% for the stupid wage. But an extra 30% of me being crap isn't worth a damn.

Off the back of what is the worst result of this (or any other) season, this is turning upwards sharply. The French defenders are allegedly done (MYM and Haidara), hard to see us not then getting Gouffran for a paltry £1m. Sissoko at about £2m, Thauvin @ £1.5m. That's five and then there's the thought that a striker (Gouffran being more winger) is still likely. I think Pardew is quoted as saying something about 2 marquee signings, with MYM being one.

How is Bent 'awful'? Just look at his goalscoring record. You don't score 102 goals in the top-flight without being a little bit good. He's still on the right side of 30, and as far as I'm aware, he's still got it.

The only reason he ain't getting in the terrible Villa team is because of Lambert's stubbornness (and possibly having to fork out more money to Sunderland).

The reason people on this board don't want him is for the same reason the Mackems don't want Danny Graham, but at the end of the day, if he scores goals, who cares who he played for, during a brief stint?

 

Can't see us getting bent villa will want to regain some of the 24 mil they paid for him. Due to his age I can't see mike offering more than a 5 mil. Unless villa are desperate to offload him he won't leave, he is also on massive wages. Realistically villa will want at least 10m I reckon and if we've got that to spend on a striker we could buy a lot better

Got to disagree with the op the one thing we don't want ins any players leaving weather on loan or not! With the europa league and the prem we need all the players we've got all we need is a few injures and were in trouble. The lack of quality of our squad players has cost us this year. Iv always thought we need another 6 decent players since the summer, I wonder if mike thinks its worth it waiting to jan to save a few mil when now we have missed out on Europe and battling relegation?

Nothing irrational about it.

He looks half ****e because he's playing in the prem when he should be on loan, but we need the bodies. Put 20 pounds of muscle on him and give him a bit of experience and he could be a hell of a handful - - tall, strong, fast and with a bit of skill about him. Just because he's not good enough now doesn't mean anything except that we don't have a big enough squad.

Your outlist is missing two players Colo and Santon I fear!!! I just don't see us signing these players without losing anyone good.
