Exactly and that's where the problem lies and why Wenger is mainly to blame. He puts young players on big money early so there is no desire or want to improve. At most clubs, the top players are the top earners. Not at Arsenal.
I don't know why players' wages are made public after all would you like everybody to know your salary or private business? It's absolutely nothing to do with us and gate money pays for a lot more than just the player's dosh.
No player should be able to earn 80k a week, okay they have short careers, but they could invest thier money wisely for when they retire,or get a job, like joe public have to
Yes, the average PL player should earn in the region of £30-40mil in an average, say 15 year career. I think most of us could retire easily enough on those kind of earnings. I suppose the main problem for most is "what do I do now?" If you're not cut out for management, and not articulate enough to be a pundit, it can present a problem. In the old days, before today's astronomical wages, players had to find a job when they retired. many went into the pub business. Unfortunately, quite a few of them ended up being their own best customer.
Now this is truly delusional. Or, he's full of ****. Nothing to do with the reported 100k per week then Theo? http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...0844/walcott-arsenal-are-improving-every-year
never understand this short career lark. a short career on 80k a week? thats 52 weeks in a year and you have to be at the top of your proffession to make that kind of money in the real world in 1 year...they earn more in a ****ing single year than most will in a lifetime....short career my arse.
It's official, they're managed by a traffic warden. please log in to view this image Apparently on page 2 there's a £250 fine for leaving the toilet seat up...
presumably the urine sample is some form of drug test...so why is the the failure to produce one for TWO WEEKS RUNNING a £200 fine but arriving up 15 minutes late for training or a massage is a fine of £250? As for their money...I work as a teaching assistant in a primary school...my wages ARE public knowledge ... they are advertised publicly when the job is advertised so I don't see what the problem with footballers wages being known is. My problem with the wages is why? Why would you need or want to double your salary when you earn £60k per week? Doubling my salary would mean me earning £1600 per month instead of my current £800...that would make a massive difference to me and my family...but seriously how much difference to their lives does an extra £25k per week make when you've been already earning £60k per week? There are only so many cars you can drive or houses you can live in etc. Joe Hart earning an absolute fortune at city...wellover £120k per week...then there are his sponsorship deals too...but is he happy with that? Nope ... he now does head and shoulders adverts...wtf for? like he really needs any more money. And no I ain't jealous...it would just be better if they earned less and tickets were made cheaper so those of us who do not earn a **** load less might be able to afford to come to a few more matches. I have only afforded 3 this season as my wages aren't increasing...2 of them were cup matches when the tickets were cheaper than normal...and I have only taken my kids twice (to the cheap cup games).
i told you Colin..greedy basterds....poor sods only have a short career to boot....i just cant connect with the game i love.
There's an argument that the players, as the main commodity of an industry that generates huge amounts of cash, should be remunerated accordingly. But like others have expressed, it sticks in the throat with me that anybody should be paid £100k plus per week
It's no wonder Ashley Cole left. Fines for inappropriate dress, using your 'phone and reading about Cheryl man in the papers. He'd be bankrupt!
Totally agree with you, footballers are totally detached from reality, just look at ashley cole who claimed he felt physically sick and nearly crashed his car at being offered the lowly sum of 55k a week. That was 7 or 8 years ago and was a considerably higher offer in those days, and he wondered why arsenal fans (and football fans) hated his guts.
If I couldn't produce a urine sample for 2 weeks I'd think that someone was taking the p iss out of me
Because 1 sample per fortnight from each of the squad is enough to keep Wengers water bottles topped up.
