With City legend Warren Joyce a key component in the deals, Pearson is not ruling out another swoop on Old Trafford before next season begins. "I would like to take one more possibly on a season-long loan," he added. "There's a couple of special ones but whether we get them or not is another thing." Wonder who they are? Tom Cleverley has been doing really well at Wigan and is an attacking central midfielder. Scott Wootton is a young Central Defender who is shortlisted for United Reserves' player of the season. Paul Pogba is the new Patrick Viera apparently and is highly thought of 18 year old in their reserves midfield. Nicky Ajose is doing really well as part of Bury's promotion push and can play as a striker or on either wing. Ravel Morrison is the definition of l'enfant terrible, an attacking midfielder United think he is the most talented player to come up thru the ranks for years. Of these, whilst Morrison and Pogba are MASSIVE talents they are only 18 and surely too young for the Championship just yet. Ajose would certainly fit the bill to partner Stewart on the wings. Tom Cleverley would also be a very good signing for the middle of the park. My bet is Ajose.
Cleverley I'm sure is too good for this league, Wootton, Pogba, Ajose and Morrison could be possible I think, there's no reason being 18 should be such a big deal. John Bostock made his palace debut aged 15, and Barnsley's 17 year old striker scored for them the other day.
The age thing isn't about ability, it's about whether their bodies, which are not finished growing at 18, can cope with a full season of competitive football at Championship level. There are exceptions to the rule but in general they aren't up to it and I doubt Uniteds management would want to risk their long term health by loaning them out for a whole season.
They are young players but if anything they're in their physical prime and will be able to stand the test of a full season better than someone 10 years older. It's about whether they are good enough or not, and nothing else.
I suspect that it's definitely Ajose that we're after, though there is a chance that it could be a more experienced player who's not getting enough game time, Obertan?
Josh King would be a great Season Long Loan, Fast Powerful Striker was on Loan @ PNE last Year. http://www.manutd.com/en/Players-And-Staff/Reserves/Joshua-King.aspx
Sounds just like what we are looking, someone who can find the back of the net! Get in there Nigel and see if SAF will loan him to us for all of next season!!
I assume he was one of the lads that was recalled as soon as Ferguson jnr was sacked? Could be a possibility.
not another man-u kid please... 4 is enough! there's plenty of other clubs to do deals with, liverpool, arsenal, man-city all have talented youngsters in their ranks. what is this fascination with man-u ? i can understand that pearson wanted a few lads that have played together before from man-u. the chemistry will be great and will help them settle into the squad. but by the looks of things we'd be better off sacking all our scouts and just give back-handers to Joyce.
This is supposed to be a serious, football-related discussion!!!! There's always someone who ruins it!!!
steering the topic away from bebe talk... ajose would certainly be my choice, felt like every week he'd stand out for bury on FL show highlights and looked bloody useful. think united would quite like to see him continue progressing in someone's first team but at a higher standard.
At last, a sensible poster, well, sort of! Now maybe we can get back to City, and, football related discussion!!
