    I wanna cry. Mp's wearing Nigel's jacket :(

Oh and at the end it looked like not just a smile down at MP. Cortese gave him a nod.

He may well of earned a penalty too, the ex skate gave him a shove in the area and the Referee missed it.

Just got home. Great performance from the boys and the crowd. Still think it could have been all over by half time.

Not losing was more important than winning tonight, & we could have done both. Brilliant effort from the players & there was something special about our crowd.

There was HR. we showed football that we know how to be dignified. The message went out to Nigel .. a big thank you and each time was quickly followed by a rousing song for the team. Classily done imo

Just got home... **** late games. Good result, very good performance and was pleasantly surprised there was no booing and no anti-Cortese songs. None that I heard anyway.

Totally agree, still reeling from the shock of Nigel's departure. Was away from the internet all week-end and then logged on to BBC Sports Sunday evening and wham, totally dumfounded. Started to read all the posts on here and as expected most people felt the same. Will not go into anymore why's and what's and if's.
The lads played as well as I expected to be honest. Ever since Arsenal I have this belief that we can now start competing with the "better" clubs. Anything less than a draw tonight to me would have be a disappointment even with all the drama of the last few days. In all honesty we should have won the game. Watched the game over the internet and the fans sounded awesome. The last 15 minutes we started to lose a bit of discipline as we have done in some games and we need to improve in that area, but great effort and determination all round.

PS. I believe we have found our keeper

You're right. We were murdering them in the first half

And you're right too. In terms of keeping the fans onside, this was a pretty good result. Actually it was better than that because anyone could see we bullied Everton in the first half. It was ridiculous. To their credit they soaked it up, but it was by no means comfortable for them. In the second half it was much more even, and maybe they shaded it in clear chances, but Moyes looked happy. Which is all that needs to be said, really.

He always sat next to Markus...I remember how lonely he looked after ML's death. If he wanted anyone sat next to him, they would be there. Not a man I'd want to sit next to because he is a nervous watcher of the game....think he needs a comfort blanket.

He's a odd one, alright. Definitely has some extreme personality traits which are both good and bad. I believe he is a perfectionist and totally dedicated to his vision. I bet he works crazy hours and drives everyone around him nuts. He looks scarily intense everytime they show him at games.

His people skills and personal empathy are obviously not the best. If I had to guess, I don't think he had it out for Adkins. I just think he thought Pochettino was the way to go and so the decision was clear. If you think about it, he really didn't do Pochettino any favors the way he handled it either. Pochettino was just kind of thrown out there with the angry fans.

But you take the good with the bad. It seems to me that he does have the ability to reign himself in. The Puncheon situation is the obvious example. The rumors that he wanted to fire Adkins several times but didn't. The reporter who noted that Adkins and Cortese were an "odd couple." I also feel like his treating everyone at arms length and not saying much to the press is in part recognition that he would probably say something that does not come off well.

In short, I think he's a nut. I wouldn't want to sit near him either. And I don't think I like him very much. But he makes it work. While it's a little unusual, there are many people who are not such nice guys on a face-to-face basis but are still effective leaders. I used to work for an NGO under a boss who was a pretty horrible person. But she really did care about the work we did... maybe just not the people who did it. Probably she cared so much that every perceived minor flaw drove her to fits of rage. Can't say I was sorry that she left but I did respect her from a distance and anyone who donated to that organization or received help was well-pleased with the results.

Still can't condone how he treated NA, but like I said in another thread I'm hoping that this was merely one time where his issues got the best of him. If the worst thing that happens is that every two years Cortese randomly fires a competent and likeable manager for no reason and appoints another competent and likeable manager instead... I can live with that.

Think you've hit the nail on the head. Anything NC says would be distorted by the press so therefore he rarely speaks to them.

I think he knows he won't come over well to the press or facing a large group of fans...mainly because he doesn't quite understand the 'common man'. Unless Nigel gave him a right earful at his leaving meeting, the failure to put a thank you message in the programme is an example of that. He may also be one of those people who delete you from their lives once you are no further use to them. When he told his wife that people thought he was a little monster, she replied that it was untrue he was a big monster. Must be wonderful being his PR man.

As long as he carries on doing right by my club, I am happy for him to keep himself private.

Congratulations ladies and gentlemen, I have not managed to watch the game yet, but you guys showed how classy Saints fans are, sounds like you got behind the team, and didnt unsettle our new manager.

I think that lot from West London, could learn a thing or two, about how to get behind their team.

In the gallery on the OS, Puncheon is about to shake Poch's hand as he leaves the pitch. I'm sure MP is saying, 'Hope you washed your hands.'
