There's a rumour doing the rounds that the Toon are out to scupper Sunderland's bid for Danny Graham. You could do a lot worse - we don't want to lose him. :(

I'd love Graham, but we'd never go for him sadly.

if we did go in for him, no matter what SAFC offer he'd walk over broken glass to play for us.

I like how all the Sunderland fans are saying that if he goes there then he's not a Mag scumbag and they'll welcome him, and if he goes to us then he's lowest of the low...

What if we simply offered him more money?

But, yeah... Probably not going to happen!

If Danny gets the slightest idea that we're after him the he'll be all over his agent trying to sort something. He clearly loves the Toon and would do anything to play for us from what I hear.

To be honest, we need a striker, he is a striker, he can score goals, he loves the Toon and would put an extra 10% graft in...am I missing something or should we not be all over this if the price is right?? Is he not worth parting with 5 mil?

Yes, but our owners don't comprehend this logic, what with having no feelings for the club/city. So not likely to go for it.

Think we should get Graham and Gouffran. Would only be 6 mill for both.

Add Gary Hooper to that, all 3 for £11M

I agree completely! Ticks the right boxes - adds competition to a position we are frighteningly light in, is proven in the PL, the price is right - if £5M is the asking price and would bust a gut for the club. He may be 27, but so is Debuchy.

And as has been said, if we could get him and Gouffran for £6M combined, we're laughing.

Neither Graham or Hoper are that great though. They might help us in our current situation but not by much. Remember we've been linked with previously with both players and the reaction was very unfavourable from NUFC fans. There are better, younger players out there, hopefully with what we need, pace and ability on the ball, something that neither of these two possess.

Check out his Wikipedia page. Somebody having a laugh. Although I did find this bit funny...'It is thought he is considering sueing Sunderland council for having to fly over their area, which brought back recurring nightmares of a bad time in Albania.'

Graham would be a good squad player. An ideal (albeit slightly late) replacement for Best. We need some grit and prem experience at the moment. Granted he's not 'one for the future' but he's the sort of player we miss IMO.
