I'm willing to give him a trial period, that's if he signs. People who have their doubts are living in fantasy world that there's tonnes of 20-plus-a-season-strikers about. If there were they'd all have been snapped up by premier league clubs by now.
It's definitely a gamble giving him a 3 year deal on what I guess will be pretty high wages, however I'm positive that he will help ease our problems going forward. Just look at his record in this division and this season so far. It is however concerning that Cardiff and Leicester have brought in Campbell and Wood respectively. I think out of the three we have come off the worst in terms of the striker we have signed.
Leicester have good history in this department, I'll play. I'll see your Matt Mills and raise you an Ade Akinbiyi....
But it's also worth noting there that DJ scores twice as often as Simpson by those stats. Simpson will score 1 in 5 games and DJ every two and a half. Going by your figures there DJ is twice the striker.
Yes. But not worth the age and wage, that being my point. Honestly think you're going to be disappointed. He's nothing special and will just be happy to earn 20+k a week.
Can you tell me what club he's at now? He won't be on a small wage. He was constantly asking for more when he played with us. Up to the point when we said enough was enough and we released him. He's one greedy bastard, thats for sure.
31 isn't that old. I'm not even fussed about the length of the contract. He might not be more prolific than other strikers signed in this league this year but he's probably going to be better than what we have at the moment. Plus, his scoring rate for this season (in a poor team) isn't 0.4, it's 0.58. Different players play better in different sides... He might be prolific for us... or he might not. We'll just have to see.
He scored a fair few for Blackpool in the Prem so fingers crossed he gets off the mark quickly here and we get back in the hunt.
