Agreed about the game time part. Would be great for us if FC got injured after a few games. Stand by what I say about him being the better player though it's all about opinions, for me FC has a much better technique and finishing ability and is a better all round footballer. Means nothing though if he spends more time with the physios than on the pitch.
Maybe if you can guarantee you can get a striker in who is so good that he can make up for the drop in quality of the balls supplied in it would work. Who would you have suggested we go for? Who would realistically come to us.
We could have a top class striker, but if we can't tie down other key parts of our team then what's the point? One of the reasons we did so well was due to the likes of Meyler, Brady and Elmo. We've lost one for the time being but lose all 3 then that is a weakened team, top class striker or not. If you take away the players providing service then you're going to struggle to score goals even more. We've done the right thing by not sticking all our eggs in one basket and tried to keep the nucleus of our team together.
Any striker needs service - we've got the players to provide the service, but up to now our strikers haven't been taken the many chances that have come their way. Hopefully DJ can help us address that. Doing things the other way around means we end up with a striker having to create the chance and score the chance he creates - which is pretty much what Fryatt had to do most of last season. Thankfully we have developed a great deal since then. If Fryatt had been fit all season I don't think we would have needed a striker in this window
That's the million dollar question, isn't it? Luciano Becchio is a start. Maybe someone like Steve Morison?
There can be no maybes about your strategy. You can not lose 2 of your best players in the hopes that it maybe works out. Becchio I dont know. Something tells me if he leaves Leeds it will be to the PL and not a championship club.
Lads don't let AKCJ wind you up, its really not worth it. AKCJ the names of the Strikers OLM is talking about(i think) are Campbell and an Eygptian Striker called Gedo, he plays for Al Ahly, hes 28.
People keep banging on about Becchio, but I'm not convinced he would leave TWS for another championship team - Wigan are supposed to be interested but what would he cost - £4million?
For **** sake. I'm not winding you up. Just trying to provoke discussion. Personally I don't think DJ Campbell is better than Simpson. I think you'll be suffering from the same problems. Just my opinion, i've seen enough of him for that to be backed up though. As for this Gedo chap. Whats his goal record like in Egypt? Bit of a risk isn't it? Seem to remember there being two 'high profile' from rags to riches stories in the summer. Neither have ended up terribly successful.
No they have not. Luckily it is 3.5 million invested towards what they will do and not 3.5 spent on what they have done.
Come on AKCJ. You dont think DJ is better than Simpson? How do you explain the significant difference in their goal totals then?
They've only been here 5 minutes! But by the end of the season they may have set up £60 Million's worth
In my opinion Meyler and Brady are worth a combined 3.5mil of anyones money, Meyler is creating chances and scoring, Brady is playing the left wingback position very well, getting forward and supporting the back 3 very well, granted two poor performances in the last to league games but nothing to cry about, played very very well in plenty of others. Get that goal scorer in and im confident of 2nd place this season.
SB has picked some gems up before - who had heard of Zaki or Palacios before he brought them to Wigan?
