He has only once scored more than 10 goals in a season (barring non league) this was Blackpool in which he played 31 games and scored 13 goals. Other than that hes just played games here and there for other clubs. So, i really don't see how you all rate him so highly. We need somebody like Charlie Austin or McCormack.
Shush,Andrew or i'm coming over to your place for some fun. I don't know though, maybe that's what you really want ?
Those positions did need filling because those two players was on loan without them, the position would need filling hence purchasing them permanently.
People keep talking about a 3 year deal but what does that mean? His contract won't end in January so is it a 3 and a half year deal or 2 and a hà lf year deal? Will it end in July 15 or 16? If its 2 and a half years then fine but 3 and a half seems too long.
Quality players come at a cost, some quality is over priced not in this case. How much was Beckford again??
DJ has already helped us to 3 points this season. Should have put Ipswich 2-0 up at kc when we went on to win 2-1 courtesy of the man who was supposed to score a bag full.
In one sense you are right. Brady and Meyler were already here so yea those positions were full. In another sense you are wrong. Both players were on loan and the situation dictated we buy them or lose them. Mon threatened to recall Meyler repeatedly and it was unlikely he would stay here on loan. Wartford made a bid for Brady so we were forced to match the bid and buy him or lose him as well.
Don't quite get this, we look to be signing a striker who appears to tick the boxes of what we've been looking for and some people still aren't happy with the signing? I think Campbell is the amongst the best of what we could realistically hope to get in terms of an experienced Championship striker and hopefully he'll deliver the goods. Fingers crossed we can get Elmo back and one of these Egyptian lads.
We needed to get those loans translated into permanent's PLUS address our goalkeeper and striker situations, which we have done with Stockdale and are now doing with Campbell. I think our signing DJ has got you worried cos you know he will convert some of the chances we create Plus - nothing would give him more pleasure than to help us beat old square head to an automatic promotion place
What you're saying is true, but as Meyler and Brady had managed to improve our team and give us something different to what we already had, why would we not sign them?

You're free to think that all you like. I know what sort of player he is and I think you're going to be disappointed. He's certainly not a 1 chance 1 goal striker. What I mean is wouldn't you have rather spent that money on a top striker and gone for some player who maybe are not as good as Brady or Meyler to save cash? Seems to me that you've spent all your money on a left back and midfielder when you really needed a top class striker. I don't think DJ is that, not even close.
We couldnt have spent all our money if we have 3 bids outstanding could we have? There were not a lot of strikers available realistically were there? DJ is probably the best we could have hopped for, if we do get him that is.
In other words put all our eggs in one basket? We tried that a few years ago with Bullard - and look what happened there! Suppose we spent a £3 - 4 Million on a striker who got a bad injury after a couple of games? In your scenario we then are weak at LB/LWB, have lost a ball winning, goal scoring midfielder and have also lost an expensive striker! I think SB has played it right
No, not at all. I was suggesting that you play the game the other way around. I.e. invest in better scorers rather than suppliers. I was just interested to know what you thought about it.
