Wesley Sneijder at Galatasary? One of the finest midfielders on the planet, playing week in, week out in the Turkish league!

Inter could no longer afford him, we couldn't either......2 years ago, this transfer was unthinkable......are we finally starting to see the effect of FIFA's FFP? Football is changing quickly....at least I hope it does <ok>

Interesting point, it may have been the driver behind his fall out with Inter over their desire to reduce his salary.

I'm still surprised another big club didn't come in for him though, so maybe we're finally start to see some sense coming into the area of wages, driven by FFP.

Let's hold our judgement until Feb 1st though...

I hardly know where to begin...
I've said for years that the ridiculous amounts of money in footie are ruining the game and this is just a further example.
One of the best players of his generation languishing in a relatively meaningless league ( no offence intended) is a travesty. And for what? So he can go from being rich to being richer?
For years we've had talented players warming the bench of mega-rich clubs when they could be playing for a little less money at another club. So they are deprived of expressing themselves on the pitch and the fans are deprived of seeing them.
It's all a waste of talent and a polarization between the haves and have nots which can only serve to alienate the game from the people who love it.
Will FFP do anything to redress the balance? I hope so, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd like to say rant over, but it probably isn't.

As usual there will be a varied mixture of reasons why his transfer happened as it did. Sure FFP will have been a consideration. However, the financial situation of each club will also hyave had a major influence. Also, you have to accept that the player's reputation may also have had an adverse effect so that 'money' clubs steered well clear.
