Another plus is it would be another South American to keep Suarez happy, would hopefully help if Coates does leave
I reckon this transfer window is going to be yet another anti climax. Just don't see us signing anyone else other than Ince, it feels as if we're not flexible in terms of transfer targets, BR has his targets and if Coutinihi isn't one of them, then we have no chance.
Echo are pretty confident that we want Coutinho this month, and they're very reliable. The Times said that BR wants both Coutinho and Ince. I would be very happy if we got these two, or even just Coutinho. Sturridge + Coutinho (+ Ince) would boost our front 3 significantly in my opinion - this was always going to be the main area that we wanted to strengthen in January.
bit early for the negativity isn't it? we have allegedly had an initial offer for Courtinhio knocked back and have allegedly again gone in/or will with another offer, time will tell if true or will happen. have to remember as well, you don't normally get value for players in the Jan window, so if we dont get anyone else maybe we are saving it up for the Summer when the right players will be available and we might see some intent then.
From you Tube videos Coutinho looks like a very Rodgers player. Quick, creative, great ball skills. He plays from wide areas and runs narrow, making curved runs, getting in and around the box. Could be a good goal scorer in our system. Him and Suarez eiither side of Sturridge or him and Sterling either side of Suarez in an F9 role. but as they say, any player looks good on youtube.
I wasn't being negative, I was just pointing out that I had no expected incomings in mind. TBH, if the window closed now I would be happy that we got Sturridge in. I didn't particularly want him but that was because of the velcro on his boots. However, he knows where the net is and that is what we needed. I still think he will be frustrating at times such as against Norwich when he should have laid the ball off for Johnson but chose to take the shot him self, of course this can be seen as a good thing since strikers are meant to be selfish too
Well this is the salient point. Too many of us are having too many expectations. We don't have the money or the profile to attract the really big names. We are in a process of rebuilding. We need to take the best we can get and build them into a competitive side, we can't get the ready-made "superstars". Apart from the earlier point about him being Brazilian with an "inho", I know fa about Coutinho so can't comment. I leave the decision making to those who make the decisions.
I agree but it just reminds me of so many potential signings we were meant to be interested in. Ramirez, Turan, Sneijder, Huntelaar, the rumors usually circulate from fans wanting the player
I've seen Coutinho a few teams playing for Espanyol - exciting player but can go missing. I would put him on par with Maxi and Luis Garcia: can go missing but can produce moments of magic to win games.
The only thing that gives me any sort of confidence is that the Coutiniho rumors have appeared from nowhere, if that makes any sense
I'd agree with this. The Sneijder rumours went apeshit because people really wanted a player of that level, but there was no real substance in it beyond the fact that we'd made an enquiry.
I think Eriksen is still a target but for the summer. He's a dedicated Number 10 whereas Coutinho and Ince are more suited on the wings, but have the ability to play in the centre.
I'm more along these lines but don't think we could get either now which is why I voted for keeping Downing, save the money until the summer and splash the lot on one of these
