haha, no mate. I just thought the decision was a shocker & I felt sorry for Adkins, who I came across when he was at Scunnie & he appeared to be a really nice fella. I've always had a soft spot for the Saints, but I'm going to struggle to like you this season now
My favourite thing about big news is that people from other clubs feel informed enough and important enough to give us their opinions
I find comments like that really immature because it's not the fans or the players fault that Adkins was sacked. And yet you want the fans and the players to suffer for one person's "mistake", although he could be proved right if Pochettino takes us to Europe in a couple of seasons.
Believe me mate, you're not telling us anything we don't already know. I've yet to come across a Saints fan who wasn't at the very least very disappointed by Adkins going, the vast majority are absolutely gutted, but I think the things going on at Chelsea this season has emphasised the need for us to support the club and the players regardless of who is in charge even though it pains us to see Nigel go.
Indeed. Nigel is one of the most successful and thoroughly likable managers we've ever had. I, along with many others believe Nigel could have taken us to the next step of Corteses ambitious plans, but he did not. It's important that we show our support for Nigel, but, Cortese is a shrewd chairman and has, from behind the scenes, taken us from a club in administration and going out of business in league 1 to a PL club. He has made tough business decisions to get us here, many thought he was wrong to sack Pardew in League 1, and although the sacking of Nigel Adkins is far more controversial, we as fans of Southampton FC have no reason to yet doubt Corteses business acumen or ambitions. Yes we Love Nigel Adkins and would love him to still be here, but he's not. So now we need to show our support in the new management team. Without that support we'll go down and all Nigels hard work will be undone.
I suppose there's nothing else you can do mate, as it's not going to be undone, so as supporters, you've just got to live with the decision made & hope that it turns out to be some form of masterstroke by the Chairman.
That it gives people the medium in which to feel informed and important? Pity. At least you've mastered the condescension act, "love".
I know it's not your fault & tbf as a set of fans I think Southamptons have always been a great set of supporters. However, as outsiders we have no emotional involvement in Saints & therefore we look at a shocking decision that sort of sums up everything that's wrong with PL football & take a view on what we think the outcome ought to be for the person who made the call.
Looking forward to it, tough fixture, we're missing Gibson (who's been key for us) & so you'll have the treat of witnessing Phil Neville 'gracing' our midfield
Yes hopefully a good match. Never really rated Gibson so interesting he's been so influentail. Fellaini worries me but if we can shackle him and Baines I fancy us to get the win!
Gibson has been great, holds the midfield together & is positionally superb. Fellaini is unplayable on his day & the Baines / Pienaar combination down our left is key to most of our best football.
