Don't fancy the Ince deal, a lot of d!ckish decisions and 'bargaining' with that. As for Coutiniho, I know nothing of him and is barely picked to play, so can't say I want him either. We need some experience in the mix or a proper talent.
If you are purely focusing on Paul here then fair enough but I think him leaving to get first team football should be commended, not many players would do that nowadays
We should wait then and potentially get him for free when his contract is up! Seriously though, I don't want the Ince deal to go ahead solely because of how amateurish we already look in the transfer market and this would be terrible business to pay to get back someone we let leave not so long ago.
If Ince does not move this month he will move in the summer. Next January at the latest. He deserves to be playing in the PL for a decent team.
Bugger that!!! I could run faster than Paul Ince - well when somebody was chasing me and after I'd had time for a few puffs on me GTN spray
The difference is that Coutinho has been a highly rated youngster proving himself at Inter Milan in Serie A, and the other at Blackpool in the Championship. For the same price? Coutinho every time.
Coutinho was/is highly regarded in world football and was one of Brazil's finest talents. Not made the impact he expected but I suppose it didn't help when Rafa left Inter and has since struggled. Playing for Inter has given him good experience at a top club with big expectations, so he is used to pressure. I think a lot of our attackers either lack experience or experience at big clubs. He still has a lot of potential, I hope he can realise it at LFC.
Not sure Rafa was was the best judge when it came to attacking players, other than Torres he seemed to struggle
@thisisanfield: Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho is set to become Liverpool FC’s second signing of the January transfer window. (Liverpool Echo).
if you are basing it on who he was able to buy then fair enough. if based on who he wanted but didnt get like Silva etc, i would say bit harsh, as he could see talent, just wasn't given funds.
I assume that was a response to my comment? Yes, was basing it on what we actually bought. Obviously the rumours were that he wanted David Vila, David Silva, Alves, Simao etc
Yeah I see where you're coming from. But we must all remember, we're not in the market for the very best - we'll be priced out for the best and there are better teams than us. We also need to find gems which are within our budget. No easy task for our scouting dept. But they have identified Coutinho as a target. For £8m, we're getting a technically gifted Brazilian attacker who is versatile enough to play on the wing or in the middle, confortable with both feet, exciting, quick, full of tricks, great passing and has already won a cap for Brazil. I think this would be a great 'value for money' deal.
