Sitting on the plane waiting to take off from Belfast for the match tonight. We got to the end of the runway, stopped and came back again apparently due to a faulty part! The bad weather better not affect my ability to get to and from Southampton today... Can't wait for the match tonight, I've tried to avoid every single sports medium possible because I'm sick of hearing about Adkins' departure. I'm sick of hearing Le Tissier slagging off Cortese too and everybody else who has thrown in their tuppence-worth. We're all sad to see him go but we're in the same position in the table as we were with the same squad (and the addition of a highly-rated CB) and a new manager who will be hungry to win the fans over quickly after being appointed in controversial circumstances. I would like to hear nothing but cheering at St Mary's tonight but I just know that a few numbskulls are going to create a negative atmosphere for our players all in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Fancy us for a draw tonight but a win would be priceless, it will be nice to get back to football regardless of the result. God speed. Now what's wrong with this ****ing plane?
I was feeling this before Fridays events and I feel no different. What has happened will not change today's difficulty.
Any result possible, just like it would have been with Adkins. If we can get draws against Chelsea and Arsenal, there is no reason we can't get a point or three at home, though admittedly both of those teams weren't in their most consistent form. All talk of bogey teams irrelevant as we have been down 2 leagues and come back as a new side. We lost at Everton away, but that was not unexpected. We have home advantage and we have to make sure the fans keep it that way...can't criticise too much though as the cold, work and a broken car are keeping me away.

We have been very loyal to our players, giving butterfield and barnard new deals when they weren't pushing for a first team place and I don't think any of the players have been cast off with the exception of the loanees, sharp and hammond, although that was with their best interests in mind. Really the team spirit if it was ever strong should be held intact. We will get a good idea of what they think of the managerial decision from the performance of the players I should think. Not that confident about this one, under Adkins we had a habit of never playing two bad games consecutively but also i felt we were more prone to a poor performance after a good performance. With a new manager the good performance will be forgotten and everyone should be striving to make a good impression, Everton are a good side so I will go for a 1-1 draw with Everton having the better of the game. I think we will see an improvement in our overall game with pochettino just will take some time.
I think we'll win this. We have a good squad of hard working professionals, as someone once said, and they'll all have something to prove tonight. Not least, that we've improved massively since the tonking we got at Goodison.
We sacked Wotte as soon as the takeover happened, but he got a payout when he wasn't entitled to one, so we do behave well. The sacking of Adkins has left a bad taste in the mouth, but he was also compensated. Won't compensate for pain, of course. Cortese has done what he thinks is best...should he have left Saints without a manager whilst he sought one under pressure or let Poch hang round in the wings for a couple of weeks to make it look decent..of course not. Should he have waited for the summer...perhaps, but he obviously didn't like what he was seeing. We all have to hope he was right.
Think it's a combination of not liking what he was seeing and not wanting to ose out on some-one who by all accounts is a very bright young managerial prospect.
Yes but tbf he had all of his best players sold so had no player resources. Read the BBC article on him and it's clear he was loved by the fans who blamed the Board for the clubs problems.
