Beat me to it Dan, Anyone expecting a midfield departure now? I'm expecting either Granero or Faurlin.... Hoping the Adel to Milan stories are poppy cock.

Fair enough. But the point probably remains that if we sign Vanilla then Mbia could fit nicely into the defence, perhaps alleviating the need to purchase yet another player on what would be massive wages. Seems a sensible option.
When the summer comes and hopefully we stay in the Prem league we need to look in La Liga for CB. They're usually faster and have better passing abilities as kicking the ball back to the opponents is not acceptable in Spain
I'm with you Pirate. He don't look like a CB and didn't impress there when he first came to us - I don't think he has the defensive nous to play there, and he gives the ball away too much. He has done very well at both RB and in central midfield his natural position, and think Harry will aim to play him there.
Isn't there a slight contradiction in this? He's not got the perceived requirements, in your opinion, to play CB, including giving the ball away too much, but you're happy for him to play CM, surely a position that requires a greater degree of passing proficiency. Pirate's whole criticism of Mbia is that his pass completion is too low to play CM; and yet he's not good enough to play defence: perhaps we should just oust him right away then!
I think accurate, though not adventurous, passing ability is even more of a necessity for a CB than CM. Make a mistake on a straight forward pass from there it can often be very costly, and a CB often is the platform for the attack. Very nice to have in midfield too of course but M'bia's physicality, tackling and running are great to have in midfield.
Defintely agree with that. If we get M'Vila and with the other midfield options at our disposal we could use Mbia as a backup CB meaning we only need to sign one more CB(preferably Olsson) imo. So, hopefully Harry will manage to get in: 1 Midfielder: M'Vila 1 centre back (hopefully Olsson or someone like him) 1 forward/striker (Odemwingie would be perfect imo). And we're sorted I'd still like us to sign another wideman though, our front men desrve better amunition. Etherington would be perfect.
From Sports Mole """Report: Yann M'Vila snubs Queens Park Rangers By Matt Cotton, Reporter Filed: Monday, January 21, 2013 at 08:20 UK Last Updated: Monday, January 21, 2013 at 08:20 UK Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila has reportedly turned down a move to Queens Park Rangers in favour of a switch to Russian side Rubin Kazan. Hoops boss Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire to recruit the Frenchman, having already secured the signing of compatriot Loic Remy. However, M'Vila looks likely to reject a transfer to England and join up with Rubin Kazan instead, according to French newspaper L'Equipe. The source claims that the 22-year-old will sign a four-year deal with Rubin, worth in excess of £3m per season. Previous reports had claimed that QPR were likely to be successful with a bid of around £8m for the player, although the Russians have supposedly offered £9m more than the Premier League outfit. M'Vila has 22 caps for France. """""""" I hope this is Cr*p!
Can't see him coming to us now after reading that; I do hope that there is an alternative in the background and that this doesn't railroad Redknapp's plans
Don't think it's 'transfer window fatigue' ............... more like just being a QPR fan. We have more ups & downs than a blue movie!
