So you think you are going to stop him do you?

    Tell me how?

PS Throwing insults is the usual recourse of people who have lost an argument.

Apparently he's our old friend SB3 Godders. Any insult from him should be taken as a compliment.

That is your opinion old chap and that is all it is.

Just over two years ago you and I were both wondering who on earth this Adkins bloke was. A couple of years on and he has done wonders for our club and he has my utmost respect but all you whingers if you really understood Nigel you would ask yourself what is he thinking and doing now.

Well for one thing he will not be whinging like you and a few others. He has a brilliant CV thanks in no small part to the opportunity Cortese gave him. He no doubt has plenty of money in the bank every penny of which he deserves and I do not doubt that he he is acting in line with his own positive mantra of drawing a line under things and moving on.

I will watch his career with great interest and will give him a great cheer and round of applause should he come to St Mary's with his new club. I will smile and love him to bits every time I see him on the telly and on Monday I shall sing wih others "There's only one Nigel Adkins" but then I will move on.

I suggest that you do the same.

This isn't a fairy tale were you can pick a random chairman to replace the one we have. Be happy we have one that has financial backing then one like Lowe that had **** all and nearly destroyed our club.

I rather like this site ever since the swear filter went down. The only trouble is I daren't let the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov read any of the posts now.

Whilst I do agree with you Godder's, and I will always back saints no matter what, my opinion is that this is still a terrible footballing decision.

The new man may be a brilliant manager, but that doesn't mean he will come in and perform very well in a new country, new league and with out his own input to the squad.

Whilst I (obviously) really want him to succeed and will back him vocally, my current opinion is that this move has just sealed our fate and will relegate us.

We will see. I really hope I eat these words and we keep our rise up the table going, but I genuinely can't see how even Jose Mourinho or even Sir Alex Ferguson could get more out of our current squad than Adkins was. All the players have been performing exceptionally under Adkins since after the West Brom game.

Well if the papers are to believed ( a lot of people on here seem to believe everything they say), tomorrow some are ment to be saying Adkins fell out with a lot of senior players. I don't believe anything until either Adkins or Cortese (or another person in the know) come out and say it, but this stuff will just carry on and on. Best just get on with supporting Saints then listen to this stuff.

I do wonder how many of the "get behind the club" & "I will always support the club not individuals" didn't do any of that when we dropped through the divisions?

I do wonder if we removed the boisterous element who so many on here seem to dislike, what the atmosphere would be like at St Mary's when its left to the "everything is wonderful and jolly super" brigade to make any noise and rouse the team?

I can't wait to hear the "tutting" tomorrow night in St Mary's and subsequent mashing of keyboards from those who couldn't be bothered to go to the game.

Yep. Can't wait for the game tomorrow night to be honest, it will all be better once we pick up 3 points.

Haven't a clue probably the same ones that had a go at Cortese, they do like to milk a story. But my cousin who works for the press in London said get ready for another view on Adkins sacking.

nicely written & totally agree. from a CEO position, the easiest decision Cortese could have made was to leave as is. he's made a very bold & difficult decision in my view. im sure "everyone" was happy with NA's track record & progress this season but if you're planning ahead, sometimes you have to make difficult & unpopular decisions. that i believe, is exactly what NC's done. we're SFC supporters so lets get behind the team & get 3 points tonight. presumming it goes ahead !? any possibilities it might be cancelled ? im driving down from essex this afternoon.

I predict the following interview once NA is appointed manager somewhere else (and, boy, I bet he's had a lot of calls this weekend)

"So Nigel, you must be very bitter after what happened at Southampton"

"Bitter? No. It's football. We always know that sooner or later there's going to be a parting of the ways. I was given a great opportunity at a great club and we all had a hell of a ride, two promotions in two seasons with a great team and a great club with great supporters. That's all done now, and while I'll never forget it, it's in the past. The job here, today, is to move this marvellous club onwards and do the best we can."
