Dean Wilkins, who interestingly was offered a role for life by NC after Pardew's sacking, apparently.

 

Tweeted Saints about that.

They assured me there will be an article in due course to outline who Pochettino's backroom staff are.

But they're busy prepping for Everton atm!

 

I heard (however unsure how true it is) he left as he didn't like the way Adkins was treated by Cortese.

 

Heard the same. It was also Wilkins who said in the tunnel at Stamford Bridge that the change was known about.

Cortese wanted to keep Wilkins on again, but Wilkins declined.

 

We need to get his brother in then.

The timing is also crass on the back of the awful news about Markus Liebherr's death. The club was unified by the shock and outpouring of affection to Markus and now the fanbase is splintered yet again.

It seems impossible for Southampton FC to go more than a single season without major turmoil. Personally, I'm sick of it. The club has been a circus for far too long and just when we thought we had stability, this happens.

I bet there were many other such quotes to choose from too. I'll admit I was as pissed off as anyone on Friday, and to some extent still am now, it's the timing that has caught us all out. If it had happened when we were really struggling earlier in the season I don't think you would have seen half of the fuss there is now.

I'm not really looking forward to tomorrow night as I think it is going to be a strange atmosphere, but I'll be there and getting behind the team.

P.s. while we're on the subject of tomorrow nights support, can we please not wave white hankys about. I'm not normally one to give a damn about what other supporters think of us, but it would look a touch wet!

Not denying their loyalty to Adkins, but they will move with him to his next job. What it also shows is that Cortese has loyalty as well and was willing to keep them on. Not such a moster then.

 

I'm also aware that they turned him down in favour of supporting Nigel Adkins.
