Hull City boss Steve Bruce says his club has opened transfer talks with Queens Park Rangers about DJ Campbell. The 31-year-old forward has started just four games for QPR since joining in July 2011 and has spent much of this season on loan at Ipswich Town. "We're talking to QPR. that's all we are at the moment, talking to them," Bruce told BBC Radio Humberside. "We hope that we can try and resolve something next week if we possibly can and we'll see what develops."
They would obviously only recall him to send him to us if it was to sell him on a permanent. As far as I'm aware, any season long loan can be cancelled during the January window, unless a loan fee has been paid. You can certainly cancel any loan deal if you are selling a player, but I'm not sure how that would work if the deal didn't actually become permanent until the summer.
Not sure who else is out there in our budget but DJ Campbell doesnt really impress me. Thought he looked ****e against us, I know he scored a lot for Ipswich buti dont rate him. I certainly wouldnt want him on a 3 yr deal. Sharpe's a good player, hasnt cut it in the premiership and not sure he's who we want as we may/should be in the premiership soon. I would like Morison or Austin as they are both young enough for us to get a fee for in the future and both can play as the big man in a 4-5-1 which we will have to do in the prem to survive. We've seen how much trouble we have holding onto the ball, the target man is what we need. Edit Morison's 29 and Sharp's 27 FFS.
C'mon Dutch, if you were him, and you were starting out as a young striker, would you want to be known as a coolio sounding 'DJ', or, as in an already failed striker, 'Dud'? Or did I have a senior WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH moment?
Wish I was, i'd be well off. He left us because he was constantly asking for more money and he never repaid it on the field. He then left for Blackpool fairly short contract (I think it was 2 years) on another big wage (Blackpool didn't want to tie him on a long term deal). Then left for QPR and has happily sat on their bench earning. He'll be on a hefty wage should you tempt him to leave QPR.
Of course I don't, but the facts are there to prove he's on a wage that's much higher than this league. My guess would be 30k per week. But it's fairly rich of you to suggest I don't know what he's on yet constantly people talk about what Chris Wood is earning
Apparently its a 3 year deal so his wages will fall in line with the wage structure at the club, if thats not enough for him then he wont sign. Can't see Palace been in a position to hand him a massive wage so im pretty sure at the age of 31 he wont be demanding a silly wage anyway. Im sure we can offer him a better financial package than Palace but it might come down to wanting to stay down south, who knows. At the end of the day no one knows his wage situation, the Millwall fans say Chris Wood is on 30k aweek, you lot say he isn't, no one really knows but the player and Leicester City.
By "people" I assume you mean people on this board, as you're on here so often you can't possibly know what's being said on the Leicester board.
As I've never posting anything about Chris Wood's earnings, it's not rich at all. But as we're making up nonsense that we have no information on, I reckon he's on £240k a week.
If we don't get somebody because they may not be good enough when we are in the Premier League maybe we won't get into the Premier League. If somebody is going to be good in the Championship they should be good enough to be a squad player in the Premier League.
