So? Does that mean he doesn't want to buy? You're clutching at straws here. He also said most deals get completed in the last week of the Winter Transfer Window.
I'm talking about the present, not the past. yes, they ****ed up then, but the fact a whole sponsorship deal was restructured so we get a large sum of money now should have been a massive hint, yet Wenger was oblivious to it. Ivan did brilliantly, and it's going to waste.
He made some ridiculous comment about being able to get players cheaper in the last week of the transfer window
I really have no idea why your convinced Wenger doesn't think the squad needs improving. Presumably you think come summer the squad will stay the same as he is completely happy with what he has? I think it's naive to think that with Arsenal in 6th place AW will be happy with the team.
I really think you're missing the point. The position Ramirez found himself in (in space with just the keeper to beat) happened as a result of what was regularly occurring throughout the first half: Chelsea carving our defence open with ease. This reflects poor passing and a defence that doesn't really know what it's doing half the time. If they hadn't scored those particular two goals, they would have more than likely scored two others, considering their complete dominance in the first half. The ref didn't cause this dominance, our woeful performance and the gulf in quality between their attacking players and our own caused it. Plain and simple.
You're an Arsenal fan, and you're asking "Does that mean he doesn't want to buy". Come on, stop being naive, you should know from past experience Wenger loathes spending during a season.
Just because we haven't bought anyone yet doesn't mwan its going to watse. I still expect signings, but as Wenegr said in the last week, seeing as most deals happen then.
Aside from Andrei Arshavin, name me some other big january signings we've made in the last few seasons, since Wenger's gone mental. He spends in summer, not winter. It's proven
Dominance does not always equate to goals. Fact is the refree botled the goals and if he didn't who knowa what would have happened. Maybe the Chavs wouldn't have dominated the 1st half? Maybe tey'd have scored 5? You never know.
We signed Eisfeld, that was it. And he's hardlya 1st team player. Arteta and Co. was during the autumn window. I'm talking specifically about January signings.
But that isn't the conversation i'm having with you. You keep berating Wenger for thinking the squad doesn't need improving. I'm saying of course Wenger thinks the squad needs improving, with the club sitting in 6th. You think everyone see's what we need and where we are in the league but Wenger (the guy paid to do this for a job and has managed tons of different quality players and squads) thinks this team needs no improving? I just find that ridiculous... Whether we will spend or not is another conversation. I think a lot more goes into signing players than people realise and it's only when throwing money at Transfers that they go through quickly. Personaly i do think we will sign someone during January. If we end up not signing anyone then i think come Summer there will be a large amount of spending done.
Yeah, but if we leave it till summer it'll be too late. We need a big January signing to rescue our season, like we did with Arshavin. He almost single-handedly dragged us into the CL that season. We need a Cavani/Benzema to do that, but good luck getting Mr. Socialism to spend more than 20 million on a player.
You're the one always going on about how financially important it is to end in the top 4, well by summer time it might be too late and by then we will be out of the top 4, unless your mildly ******ed and think this squad is good enough to end in the top 4 even though they've shown no indication that they are. Our current league position is the sum of what this team is capable of.
As Poldi didn't play for us until the Koln game in pre season, i can hardly see how he was a January 2012 signing. Even more-so considering we didn't sign him until April 2012
