The football has never been good under Hughton, even when winning its pretty much been anti football. Sticking 10 behind the ball, hit long crosses into the box, fantastic way to play the game.
I think you are being very optimistic!! The problem is Hughton I'm afraid. We are back to square one. Tactically devoid.
I think people are forgetting Hughton HAD to build from the back, hence we are slightly one dimensional going forward. He's made us a solid team so let's be patient and wait for these new strikers.
I don't think Dowming, Henderson, Sturridge and an over the hill Gerrard are the best players in the world. We were poor yesterday no escaping that and I am beginning to doubt CH for the first time..not due to results or form but our play..we aren't easy on the eye and it's quite painful. Beginning to wish we ourselves went for Laudrup.
This is exactly the type of rubbish I come here from twitter to avoid. Bunn is not a terrible keeper. Johnson and Tettey, for the most part of the season, have caused most teams tremendous problems. We've scored goals from both midfield and defence. The ONLY problem we've had this season is our attack. Hughton had to patch up the back because we conceded far more last year. Maybe he didn't think the attack was urgent (we also scored far more last year). Turns out it is now urgent, so he's addressing it. I think some of you need to just go and buy a Barcelona shirt
Having just seen the goals I am convinced Ruddy would have done better certainly with goal 3 and possibly 4 as well! Its a shame for Bunn cus he isnt THAT bad its just Ruddy is THAT good for us and saves us more times than maybe even he is given credit for!
I think you've nailed it there! there are occasions when he reacts very quickly, there was one time yesterday with the score still at 0 - 0 that he was down in a flash on his goal-line gathering the ball, maybe because he is shorter he can get down more quickly, not so far to travel! As you say, he's not a bad keeper, just not JR!
Perhaps people on this board have/do over react but it's very unfortunate that due to our success over the last 3-4 years many posters refuse to listen to any criticism of the team/management.
Remember the last time we lost our no.1 keeper for half the season ? Gunny? Look how that turned out? Im not a Bunn hater, but he certainly isn't good enough for this level ! Now im not saying throw declan in because he's not experianced enough yet for the PL on regular basis, so i think we need to get a GK in this window, even a loan just until the big man is back?
Seriously? Were you one of the people accusing CH of wasting money on a 'keeper in the summer? (I don't know, but many were) Was anyone calling for a back-up 'keeper at all last season? We are utterly spoilt with JR, how many clubs have arguably the best English 'keeper pre-injury? Bunn might not be making the same difference Ruddy does, but I'd still say he's on a par with many first-choice PL 'keepers in the bottom half of the division. In the summer we had people moaning that Bunn pushed Rudd and Steer further from first team football, now you want to push them out of the picture completely? If we sign a third keeper, between Bunn and JR in ability, then Rudd won't even get cup games.
irdan, I assume that comment was directed, at least in part, at me I do have my criticisms of the current management, but I also had my criticisms of the last management. overreaction one way must be countered by solidarity the other. For what it's worth, I think Hughton is too slow to make changes in-game, be it substitutions or formations or pressing or whatever. I also think that he can be over-reliant on Snodgrass. I don't think, however, that everyone needs to flip out and ask for changes to every part of our team (over the last few hours I have heard calls for a new starter in GK, CB, LM, DM, CM, ST). I'm sure Hughton will get it right, and if we actually ever look like getting relegated we can start being upset.
Good post and I, although I'll admit to a few recent reservations about CH, still trust he will get it right. I think maybe fans are a bit edgy as PL status this year provides extra tv money which could really see Norwich becoming an establishes PL fixture.
Getting in another keeper may be madness, but that seems to be exactly what CH is doing by bringing Lee Camp in. Surely the need is greater elsewhere!
