QPR striker Remy: If something is bothering me, it's difficult

New QPR signing Loic Remy has spoken of the inner demons that have affected his career in the past, with injuries and issues in his personal life contributing to inconsistent performances on the pitch

The west London club's £8 million record signing scored on his debut in a 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday to maintain QPR's unbeaten start to 2013, although Harry Redknapp's men remain five points adrift of safety.

While Remy's goal underlined why Redknapp was keen to bring him to Loftus Road, the player is quick to take the pressure off himself in his new surroundings.

"When I’m 100 per cent I can do very good things but when there’s something not right in my head, something bothering me, then it becomes a bit difficult," he told the Daily Mirror.

"My profile as a player is that when I’ve got a small problem, things become difficult. It might sound pretentious but the physios say to me that I’m like an F1 car. Whenever I’ve got a small problem, it’s straight into the pits."

Remy has been in fine form during the past year at club and international level, scoring four goals in 17 appearances for France and prompting QPR to take a risk on him despite his troubled history.

An injury ruled him out of Euro 2012, and he has an ongoing paternity wrangle over a child born to a girl from Toulon that is due to be concluded at the end of January.

However, the latest chapter of his footballing career got off to a promising start at Upton Park.

Actually I wouldn't. I am happy on my wage, and a lack of those sort of problems.
If you are above the breadline (I am)...health and a healthy state of mind, is worth all the tea in China and 80 grand in my pocket

Consistency could well be an issue after reading that. However if he can keep it going over the next 4 months that will do.
