I really dislike Simon Grayson. I think because of his Leeds days, who are such a horrible team based in a disgusting part of the world. They certainly played like Leeds when he was manager, epitomised perfectly by James Vaughan's "performance".

Anyway, like Toby, today was my first game in ages. Turned out to be a great game to go to, with one of the best goals too. Some of the play is just so good. At times, we do look just too good for the Championship!

Not unless the people who have been saying it for the last 40 years all die of swine flu or something.

He's the best manager we've had in the last five years. Comfortably.

Well, I somehow managed to stay up to watch TFLS... to say I am more than a tad disappointed would be an understatement.
Let's get some things clear here. The conditions were quite surreal today, whatever the actual temperature was (probably about -1C) it felt a damned sight colder, especially when that wind got up. How they played any kind of football in that is a minor miracle, and the display in the second half was just astonishing.
The referee was indeed poor in his application of the law - his inability to sanction players for some truly dreadful tackles (on Almunia and Chalobah in particular) was frankly ridiculous. Nothing to do with it being Championship football, the referee's performance would be slaughtered by an assessor at ANY level of the game. He did get the penalty right however.
Well, we've seen some fantastic football at The Vic this season... but if I ever see a better goal than Battochio's, our 4th today, anywhere, in the flesh or via whatever form of media you care to mention... Naaahh, it ain't gonna happen! If it had been scored by Messi at the Nou Camp, Walcott at the Emirates, Rooney at Old Trafford or Silva in the World Cup Final - we would not hear the last of it. And rightly so.

However, and here comes the (why oh why am I not surprised) disappointment. Those editorial mongs at the BBC decide to show only the final three or four passes leading up to what was a truly sensational goal... thereby reducing it to a skeletal pastiche. Absolutely no f**king idea idea whatsoever. Then, to add insult to injury, Maniche says how many 'tweets' they've had from Watford fans saying "show the whole build up" and so they do... at double speed (so it looks like the end of a the Benny Hill Show) with Claridge spouting platitudes through gritted teeth about how "comfortable on the ball" we are. For the love of Christ, open your piggin' eyes and grow a footballing brain!

A goal truly of such quality that I have never seen from any Watford side, and one that should rightly take it's place as one of the best goals scored by any team, anywhere, any time.

With a Latin soundtrack as well.

But just look at the body language of the Huddersfield players at the end of the video.

If you remember the away fixture, there is a site where a Huddersfield fan does a report in a cartoon style. I am looking forward to his efforts for this game.

I was tempted to say that the Biased Bedfordshi*e Corporation were a disgrace last night. But it's like saying that water is wet. Some things are so obvious that they don't need to be put into words.

Ah forget the BBC - we all know we saw a fantastic goal and if they can't appreciate it then thats their problem - we have the memories of seeing it and being there to see it.

I record the FLS simply because we might get seconds of coverage and that's all I want to see, our longest stint was last week I think. Couldn't make the game as I was snowed in so am v grateful to watch the u tube clip, lovely stuff.
All I need today is the super Spurs to double up the mighty reds and all will be complete.:1980_boogie_down:

And thanks to OFH from those of us who weren't there. It does look better from up in the Rous than played speeded up like a Mickey Mouse cartoon by the Beeb.

I was always torn in my watching days between sitting up there in the quiet seats for the way the game is laid out in front of you, and being in the Rookery for the atmosphere. (Rookery usually wins unless I'm with friends with season tickets in the Rous.)

The 4th goal summed up what we can do...

Quality - one of the best seen at the Vic.

Somebody needed to tell the likes of the FLS reporter that it does actually SNOW and get very COLD in Italy,Sweden,Czech republic,Switzerland...and Italy (particulary the north!) so a bit of that weather won't really affect our overseas guys.

Absolutely spot on Fez - exactly my thoughts and I have been seething all night about it. To show that goal in a speeded up Benny Hill 'esque manner and let that blithering Buffon Claridge come up with the most ridiculous crap is just beyond me. It's a shame Leroy was not on there as at least he talks some sense. Just imagine if that had been those eternal victims Liverpool that had scored it, Hanson and his pet dogs would still be on MOTD creaming themselves about it.
Yes, well done the BBC, you have ****ed it up again (sorry for the language anyone who may be offended)

Snowing again here this morning so I'm delighted the drive up and back yesterday was relatively untroubled.

Sharp's Doom Bar was the lunchtime guest beer and then a convincing win afterwards. The first half display was a bit tentative, perhaps relying on the formation and style which is so effective away. A lot of midfield possession was wasted, though Vydra and Deeney still managed to put the Huddersfield defence under pressure with strength and good running. Once the second goal went in (one thing Cassetti can do is put in dangerous crosses) the confidence spread throughout the team and the visitors had very little to offer in the way of resistance. Fourth goal was the highlight of course, and though I know a lot of Nesters are inclined to mock the Upper Rousers we did have a great view of the whole move. Forsyth didn't do much wrong defensively, though he wasn't under a lot of pressure and it was good to see Eustace getting playing time at the end.

I generally try not to criticise referees, especially when they're being blamed for losing us games, and I don't like seeing 11 play 10 but the tackles on Almunia and Chalobah certainly did not get the punishment they deserved.

All in all, a good day...onwards and upwards!

    Very true.

I once suggested that Manish Bhasin was presenting the show due to some sort of tokenism, and was promptly accused of being a racist. In his and my defence I said in the same sentence that Claridge was even worse. Mark Chapman and Leroy would be the ideal combination: they can't do anything about the editing, but they would at least provide some real insight.

Speaking of last night's show, has David James ever had a worse game?
