Just look at Rémy. Chose bottom of the table with only one win QPR over under performing but still better than QPR Newcastle.

I'm sure money is why Remy went to QPR.

I wonder if Hughton will look to buy another defender, when ever Bassong don't play we concede heavily.

Cheaper option - work on defending in training. This is something people often forget. A new signing isn't always the answer.

Anyway, as I said earlier, this is now only the fourth time we've lost by more than one goal under Hughton.

You really think we can take a 10m risk on a lightweight foreigner?

I know you're a bit special carrabuh, but there are very few players available for 10m better than Hooper, still fewer who would come to us and barely any who would be as low risk.

You don't seem to appreciate the importance of finances and staying up. We cannot take risks. Hooper is a massive step up for our strike force and a relatively safe bet. The absolute worst thing we could do is burn 10m on Juan Pablo, find he hates cold England, is used to getting three hours on the ball so when we come up against anyone other than Arsenal or Swansea h gets kicked to pieces and ends up whimpering on the corner flag.

The time will come for us to take a punt on Juan Pablo, but be a bit more patient and accept that our priority is to stay up and be solvent.

Agreed! Are we not allowed a bad run occasionally. Also it is Liverpool. They may be crap in comparison to what they used to be but they're still a good team.

Also, look at the signings he's made. Garrido, Bassong, Turner and Whittaker all have generally been fairly good.

I just hope we spend the money wisely. Two forwards and at the moment I'd say a quality centre mid who can pass should be on the cards as after todays performance my patience is beginning to wear thin with the Tettey and Johnson show.

Hughton has made some decent purchases, so I'm sure he will bring in the players we need.

For those mentioning Remy, some back hand deal has been done between Redknapp and Marseille, Joey Barton is already there so Arry's slimy tentacles have been in that club for a while.

You realise Redknapp didn't send Barton there?

    Also that's probably slander

Money clearly came into it but let's not be accusing people of criminal activity

Yes I know that, but having a player there on loan surely helps establishing a relationship between both clubs, also it can be used as bargaining chip.

I'm sure his been accused of a lot worse and if he saw it he wouldn't lose any sleep about it just like I will.

There's the possibility a deal is in place, but I would expect it to be above board. Barton wants to be at Marseille, they seem to like him, QPR want rid. At the end of this season, Barton still has 2 years to go on his QPR contract. Perhaps QPR have offered to loan Barton again, covering part of his wages, rather than force Marseille to pay his inflated wages alone if he was to move on a free transfer? And for Remy, to me it looks like he's got a pretty decent deal. He's on one helluva wage, with a relegation clause which will see him practically walk away should QPR go down. If QPR stay up, his stock rises slightly, and there's the potential a bigger club might come sniffing in 18 months or so, if QPR go down, then Remy's stock won't drop too much, because there's an awful lot of other factors to blame at QPR, and he'll have the chance to move to Newcastle, or whoever else is interested, maybe back to France. He'll know QPR were desperate to pay the wages they are, so I can't imagine wages being a sticking block if he was to move on, he's just taking the chance to be very well paid for 6 months.

wo wo wo hold your horses, I don't advocate spending 10 million on anyone.

I said against your argument I believe that Hooper is not worth 9-10 million and we should NOT be spending that kind of cash. What I did say is there will be plenty of players abroad who are worth 9-10 million, not that we should be after them.

I realise that anyone who isn't Juan Pablo is going to be automatically worthless in your eyes, but I'm going to be a bit more flexible and go by the professional valuation rather than your stab in the dark, if that's ok?

Well your the only one saying he's worth that.

You must be the professional mentioned.

How much do you get for being a professional valuator? Need any qualifications?

How do you know what we are bidding? We might have bid 2m we have no idea at this point.

Keep trawling Wikipedia for this fictional striker your convinced exists and we should buy off the back of YouTube footage and rating on championship manager...

Don't tell me, tell the bloke who said bid 9-10 million for him because apparently its his official worth.

I find it amazing that are so many on here that think Hooper is the only striker in the World who's worth 5-10 million that can play for us in the Premiership.

All I do know is that hooper is a target that has been fully scouted and researched by our management team and they have isolated him as a player that could do a job for us.

Not just some bloke they saw on Eurosport highlights.
